We have been exploring how to use Cuisenire rods to help us with our number work. It has been fun using them to help us to answer our sums and then check over our answers.

Everything is peachy!
We have been listening carefully to the story of, ” James and the Giant peach” which was written by Roald Dahl.
A particularly exciting scene was when the seagulls pulled the peach from the water.
We had imagined in our heads what the scary sharks looked like then we saw a short clip of the film and the sharks were mechanical and not real. This has helped us to see that people can see things in different ways.
A huge thank you to Mrs. Ryalls for bringing our work to life on her lovely display. P3b are very proud of themselves!
Pull !
A part of the story we found exciting in our novel study was when the seagulls pulled the giant peach out of the sea to save everyone from the circling sharks. They worked together as a team and saved the day.
We made our own seagulls but, the best part was when we took them outside to fly in the playground.
Thank you
This afternoon we thought about the many people who help us and make us happy then we made a special card to say a big thank you to them.
Magnetism in nature.
We spent some time this afternoon investigating with our magnets to find out if there were any magnetic materials in the back playground.
We did not find anything that was naturally magnetic in this area but, we found out that man made objects were magnetic like the lampposts, gates and fences.
Mark the page
Now that many of us are reading chapter books when we read for enjoyment we need to mark the page we stopped reading at with a marker.
We made these very simple markers during our Soft Start time and they have some of the characters from our novel study on them.
- Can you spot your favourite characters?
Spelling
Our spelling pattern for this week is short I. We made our words with plasticine and challenged ourselves to adding more to the word and making it longer eg pin pinning pinned.
Gym, mystery and system are also on our list. Why is that ?
Marvellous Magnets
We are learning about magnetism. We had great fun testing if different objects around our classroom were magnetic or not. We also learned about the poles of the magnet and that opposite poles are attracted to each other while the same poles repel each other. We felt how strong the force is when the magnets were repelling each other.
Dream jars
We are enjoying our book The BFG by Roald Dahl. We used watercolours to create different shades of colour. We painted our dreams in our dream jars. Then we looked at some of the words that Roald Dahl made up & created our own dream names.
Money men
We did some coin rubbing to help us to become familiar with the coins to 50p. Then we created Money Men. We enjoyed using the metallic crayons to do our rubbings.
What value will each Money Man be ?
