Today we made some decorations for Mrs Ryalls to display in the corridor.
We worked very hard on them and we are looking forward to seeing the school dressed for Christmas.
As part of our topic about living and non-living things we have been doing an experiment in our classroom.
There were three unhealthy plants in our class and we talked about what they need to grow and thrive.
We know they need water, sunlight and oxygen. So, we have been trying to care more for our plants over the last few weeks.
Someone suggested re-potting the plants to give them more space to grow. We still have to do this but, so far two of the plants are already looking much healthier since we have spent more time looking after them.
Yesterday, we all listened to the story of the poppy then we made our own poppies to display at home. Today we observed a two minute silence & heard Alfie & his Dad play the pipes. Lest we forget.
Tomorrow is Remembrance Day and we have been learning a lot about the Poppy story.
We will all be silent at 11 o’clock and think about the servicemen and women who have died in battle.
Poppies grew in the muddy battlefields of Flanders and we now think of them as a symbol of Remembrance Day.
We made some poppy wreaths to display in our windows.
We have been learning a new strategy of looping objects to help us to see groups of 5 easier. Looping objects also helps us to count numbers faster.
we started off by using counters and drawing them in groups of 5 then we moved on to looping drawings of objects.
This activity also helped us count in fives.
We made some 3D rockets for Bonfire Night. It looked like an easy task but, we had to do lots of problem solving to work out how to put the rockets together.
We have been playing games & doing activities that involve turn taking, sharing as well as lots of fun! We are learning how to organise ourselves at our tables so that everyone has a turn & feels fairly treated. We are having fun while developing our co-operation skills.
We worked really hard on Wednesday afternoon with Mrs Wilkinson. We heard the story of Guy Fawkes & the gunpowder plot. We used black pens to draw the Houses of Parliament then we added fireworks to the sky using chalks. We are very proud of our super pictures!
ELC set the whole school a challenge. We had to make a bonfire night banner with the class.
We are looking forward to seeing all the banners together and enjoying a spectacular virtual bonfire display.
