P1/2 have been thinking about the benefits of keeping active, following our Skipper assembly. We gathered data on our favourite activities and counted using tally marks. Then we made a bar graph and talked about the most and least popular activities.

School Day Memories
Last Friday Mrs Hobbs came to visit us. She shared her memories of her school days at Kingsland. It was very interesting and we all had lots of questions to ask.
Magnets
We are learning about magnetic forces.
This is what we said…
‘We learned that magnets pick things up. They connect together and push away the magnets that are the same.’
‘Did you know the world is a magnet? If only one side was magnetic we would fall.’
‘They can stick to each other. There’s a magnetic force if you use the same side.’
‘If you use two magnets the wrong way it doesn’t stick together.’
We sorted objects into ‘magnetic’ and ‘non-magnetic’ and were able to name the materials.
P1/2 World Book Day door
P1/2 enjoyed listening to ‘Dear Zoo’ by Rod Campbell. We painted all of the animals from the story and decorated our classroom door for World Book Day. Visitors enjoyed lifting the flaps to reveal the pets!
School Long Ago
We looked at different pictures of items you would find in a school long ago. We had to guess what each of the items were used for and think about what we might use today.
Class Museum
We have been learning about what school was like long ago. We have created our own class museum full of interesting objects from the past. We have made our own labels to go with each artefact.
Our Favourite Books
We have had great fun sharing our favourite books in class this week.
World Book Day
We had great fun decorating our classroom door. We loved drawing and painting Gerald the giraffe from the book Giraffes Can’t Dance. We went a tour of the school and enjoyed looking at all the other fantastic World Book Day doors.
Plasticine Selkies
We used plasticine to create these beautiful Selkies.
