Pupil Groups

Every week, pupils in Primary 4-7 attend a ‘Pupil Voice Group’.  These Pupil Groups allow us to work together, to share ideas and improve our school.  We set targets each term to identify how we are going to make St John’s a better place and regularly take feedback and suggestions from the Primary 1-3 pupils too!

Library Group:

In this pupil group we are working on improving our school library. We started our pupil group by brainstorming some ideas and asking the children and staff around the school for some ideas of their own. We are going to try our best to listen to everyone’s suggestions.

DFS Group:

We will also be working on DFS. Our aim is to continue with the hard work of last year’s pupil group and ensure all teachers and pupils know how to break down the barriers for children with Dyslexia.

Digital Group:

In this pupil group, some of us have taken on the role of ‘Digital Leaders’.  This allows us to learn more about computers and ipads and then share our knowledge and skills with teachers and other pupils.  We also ensure that all ipads and laptops are maintained and in the correct classroom at the correct time.  This has developed our confidence when using technology and we thoroughly enjoy sharing what we have learned with others.

RRS/ Global Citizenship Group:

The RRS/Global Citizenship Pupil Group work together to raise awareness of World Wide Issues and Special Days of Celebration.  We use the Global Citizenship Calendar to identify important dates that as a group we can raise money or donate goods to support local charities and resources, or deciding on ways that as a school we can celebrate and raise awareness about.  We work hard to ensure that RRS standards are still set as high as before when we gained our level 2 award, making sure that pupils and staff alike give and receive respect from one another to create a strong and caring learning environment.

Health Group:

The Health pupil group are working hard to plan a health day within the school to encourage and give ideas on how to live a healthy lifestyle.  The children have been planning various stations for pupils within the school to visit and take part. The health day will hopefully encourage people to take part in the sporting activities we have on offer at St John’s. The group are also going to be learning about different food groups and what effect they have on the body.
