The Scottish Government published revised guidance on Supporting Transgender Pupils in Schools in September 2025. This non-statutory guidance provides education authorities and schools with practical advice on supporting transgender young people, alongside information on relevant legislative and policy frameworks. It emphasises a rights-based approach aligned with the Equality Act 2010 and the UNCRC (Incorporation) (Scotland) Act 2024, and includes considerations for confidentiality, wellbeing, and inclusive practice. The guidance has been subject to an Equality Impact Assessment and a Children’s Rights and Wellbeing Impact Assessment. Click here to access the guidance.
