Art Activity

Hi everybody,

Here’s my last art post to you all.

We are now in the last week of school and we would normally have the opportunity to visit our new teacher for the afternoon to get to know them and get excited about being in their class in August.

I’d want to ask you a question……What makes you happy?

Toys? Food? Family? Friends Pets? Holidays? …………..

This art activity is the chance to let your new teacher know what makes you tick and especially what makes you happy. I know that it is important to us teachers that we get to know you and this little piece of art will help us do that. Please send your completed work to your current class teacher as normal and then I can make sure they get passed on to your new teacher.

P7’s – please do this activity as I can get it passed on to your guidance teachers in the high school.

Don’t worry if you can’t print this off. Perhaps you could make a small video showing off what makes you happy. If you are feeling especially creative you could make a PowerPoint, film an iMovie, create a poster or simply draw it on a piece of paper.

Lastly when you do this activity make sure you are feeling happy to do it and that will keep everyone in your house happy too πŸ˜€

Primary 1 – 19/06/20

Today is our second last Friday in Primary 1! I hope you all have a lovely weekend and are all set for our final week next week πŸ™‚

Take today to catch up on any work you haven’t managed to do.

There is also a Renfrewshire Sumdog competition starting, can you finish the year on a high by competing with other children in Renfrewshire schools?

Science activity

Hi there,

I have a fun activity for you to do today. It’s all about animals using camouflage which is a way of hiding something by covering or colouring it so that it looks like its surroundings.

I have a PowerPoint with audio (suitable for P1-7)Β  that tells you the four different ways that animals and insects use camouflage to protect themselves from being eaten!

It doesn’t matter what year you are in, you can choose to do any one of the three tasks that are listed in the PowerPoint.

The natural world is full of wonders and I hope you will learn a bit about how animals adapt themselves to survive in different environments.

Have a good day,

Primary 1 – 18/06/20

Good morning Primary 1, today I am in school working with the Primary 7s so I won’t be online this morning. I will get back to you all this afternoon πŸ™‚

Literacy

Read your story for this week if you haven’t already

Rockets – Yak’s Pants

Moons and Stars – Top Cat

I would also like you to have a go at writing me a story for the picture. If you need help today ask an adult but try as much as you can to use your common words spelling and your phonics πŸ™‚

Try to write 3 sentences, if you need to write a little bit and then come back to it every so often throughout the day then that is completely okay πŸ™‚

Numeracy

  1. Count in 1’s to 30
  2. Count forward in 2’s to 30
  3. Count in 1’s from 30 to 40
  4. Count backwards in 2’s from 20
  5. Count forward in 5’s to 30 (50 if you want a challenge)
  6. Β Count forward in 10’s to 100
  7. Count backwards in 10’s from 70

Forfeit: if you make a mistake pretend your an elephant let your adult hear you trump and have another go πŸ™‚

Take your time and spread these challenges out throughout the day πŸ™‚

Primary 1 – 17/06/20

Good morning Primary 1, I hope you have had lots of fun doing your sports challenges that Ms Harper set you over the past two days! The weather has definitely been better than we usually get for sports day!

Literacy

Today we are going to look at fact and fiction. In class we have looked at stories which are made up and stories which tell us information. Have a look at the sentences below and decide which are fact (true statements) and which are made up or stories.

  1. A moat is deep water around the castle used for defence.
  2. Β A dragon guards the treasure beneath the castle.
  3. Β A knight wears armour from head to toe.
  4. The portcullis is a spiky gate which helped to protect the main door of the castle.
  5. Prince Charming lived in Edinburgh Castle.

Also I would like you to pick some words from our spelling lists last week which were tricky for you and have another go at them πŸ™‚ If the yellow ones were all easy peasy then have a go at some of the green ones πŸ™‚

Numeracy

Today I would like you to subitise (remember that means look and say how many there are, try not to count). If you need to group the objects and add them together.

#RLONLINE OLYMPICS

So another treat today – the Olympics and no other tasks from your class teacher πŸ™‚

This week we are challenging you all to the speed bounce – This is a challenge that Morning everyone,

Thanks to everyone who liked and put up photos of Sports Day. If you can’t upload just leave me a wee comment or like.
is easy for everyone to do inside or outside their house.

Please give this challenge a go, challenge your parents, carers, friends, anyone!!

This will be a sports day like no other. Your class teacher won’t be posting today. Make the most of it πŸ™‚

Primary 1 – 12/06/20

Good morning Primary 1, another week has passed of home learning! I know it is getting trickier for everyone. Use today to spend some time as a family; getting outside, watching a movie. If you have any jobs to catch up on you can use today to do it or you could do some more work on your project πŸ™‚ Remember to send me pictures of anything you have been up to so I can share them with your friends.

On Monday Miss Harper will be posting Sports Day Challenges for you as we will be missing out on that in school πŸ™‚ I hope to see you all dressed in your sports gear raring to go πŸ™‚

Science activity

Hi everybody,

Now during lockdown we have had to stop going places, stay home and learn to keep busy around the house. Life has become very simple and I don’t know about you but I look forward to mealtimes and going to bed as that’s all we’ve been allowed to do!!

I have attached PowerPoint that will show you about our body clocks. Everyone from P1-P7 can look at the ppt as I have added audio in.

Body Clocks ppt

Now the activity I have is on the last slide and I just want you to think about what you do in 24hours.

For P1-3 You can chat to someone in your house about what your body clock is like, then either write a few sentences about it or film a clip of you talking about it. You don’t have to complete the clock template unless you’d like to.

P4-7 you can all complete the clock template.

I hope you enjoy learning about the clock inside of us all that makes us want to eat, sleep and get busy. I’ve certainly learned a few things whilst I have been preparing this for you.

I’ve included the pdf with the full size clock template here too.

Have a good day!
