P5H Homework and Reminders – W/B 24.4.17

Good afternoon everyone, I hope you all enjoyed your first week back and have had a lovely weekend. Please continue reading for your homework and reminders.

Spelling: Please complete lists gh, ph  or el, il, ey  in your spelling homework jotter for Thursday. Please write out your spelling words 3 times using SaCaWaC in the same way as we do in class. Remember that part of this process is to check and correct your spelling words, too many of you handed in wrongly spelt words on Thursday. You should then choose 6 spelling words you think you can write the best sentences for, and write an up levelled sentence for each of them. This week we are again focusing on using amazing connectives in each sentence. Here are some examples for you to choose from: so, if, while, even though, because, however and unless . Please include one in each of your sentences. Remember this does not mean you forget about using ambitious vocabulary too. We are trying to use both of these to make your sentences the best they can be.

Reading: As I posted last week you will be issued your new core readers later this week and I will explain your homework once they have been issued.

Personal Reading Challenge: We have now re-started our Personal Reading Challenge. You have 9 weeks left to reach the target you set last week. Please remember to bring your book to school as this will allow you to read it during ERIC time. Keep recording the books you have read in your Reading Passports so you can see how close you are getting to your target.

Maths:  Your homework can be found using the links below. This should be completed in your maths homework jotter and handed in on Thursday.

P5H Mushroom Planting

Yesterday afternoon as part of our Eco Week activities some of you had the chance to plant some mushrooms. The compost was quite smelly but that didn’t stop you!  The container has been put somewhere dark and we will check on it in 6 days (Wednesday).

One of you can take our mushrooms home to look after over the Easter holidays, as we really shouldn’t leave them in class as they probably wouldn’t survive if we did, and we don’t want that! If you would like to take them home and look after them, please bring a note in from someone at home giving you permission and we will choose someone. Please only volunteer if you are not going away over the holidays.

If you didn’t get a chance to plant yesterday, we might be able to convince Mr. Collins to let us do some planting in the school grounds when the weather gets a bit warmer.

Please remember to return your consent form and permission slip as soon as possible. We have been very lucky and have already had a volunteer for our parent helper. Thank you.

Here are your reminders for this week:

  1. P.E. will be on Tuesday and Thursday this week. Please ensure you have a P.E. kit in school. Please also remember to  have a bottle of water with you as you will be working hard.

  3. Some of you have already brought in an old shirt or tee-shirt to cover your uniform during our art activities. For those of you have not, we will be working on our River Clyde mural throughout the topic so it would be good if you could manage to bring one in. This can be left in school until the end of term/session if you wish.
  4. Please remember if anyone at home is (or has been) linked to the River Clyde in any way through work, we would love to hear from them. Please click here for further information.
