Art Masterclass 25.1.17

In our art Masterclass we have being learning a technique which allows us to make 3D drawings. Please talk to someone at home about what we were doing.

Below are some of your drawings at different stages.  We have discovered that the most important thing to make the drawing 3D is the curved lines. Colour does not seem to make a difference.

P5H Homework and Reminders – w/b 23.1.17

Good afternoon everyone, I hope you are enjoying  your weekend after the very busy and creative week we’ve had. I hope you are looking forward to another busy and fun week. Please keep reading for your homework and reminders.

Spelling: Please complete list a for ar  or ed in your spelling homework jotter for Thursday. Please continue to write out your spelling words 3 times using SaCaWaC in the same way as we do in class. You should then write a sentence for each of your first 6 spelling words concentrating on using interesting VCOP – vocabulary, connectives, openers and punctuation. I have explained what the highlighting in your jotters means, please share this with someone at home.

Reading: We are continuing with our novel study – Danny the Champion of the World. As discussed in class there is no formal written homework to be completed for this. However, please remember if you do not complete the reading you will be unable to take part in the class lesson. Please read chapters 7 and 8 for Wednesday 1st March.

If you find there are words that you don’t understand please take a note of them in your Book Detectives jotter (remembering the page number) and, if possible, use a dictionary to find out their meaning . We will start our lesson by discussing them in class.

Personal Reading Challenge: As discussed in class this challenge will be ongoing for the whole of this term. You have all set yourself a personal target based on the number of books you read last term and your aim is now to reach that target or beat it! I have been really pleased to see so many of you recording your books in your reading passports. Remember it is the quality of the books you read that is important. Please choose carefully to ensure the books you are reading are at the correct level for you – not too easy or too hard. Please remember to bring your book to school as this will allow you to read it during our ERIC time.

Maths:  This week I have posted another set of worded problems on your maths homework blog.  Please complete these in  your maths homework jotter. As always, please read each question carefully. You should ensure you are showing workings AND giving a full sentence answer. This homework is due for Thursday. All jotters should now be covered.

A high standard of work is being produced from most of you. Well done! Keep it up!

Both group 1 and group 2 can find their maths homework here:

P5H – Term 3 Groups

You have now been working in your new Home Team groups for a couple of weeks and I thought it was about time you showed someone at home your group banners. Please explain to them why your group chose your name and what your banner represents.

P5H Burns Artwork – 18.1.17

Last week you had a group art activity to complete for our Scotland topic and it was all about working as a team. Each group member had to work with their other group members to draw a different section of a picture of Robert Burns’ head.

You had to check you all had your paper positioned the same way. Did you remember? Next you had to make sure each drawing was drawn to scale. You also had to check with all of your group members to make sure each part of Burns’ face matched up. Did you do this enough?

Here are the completed drawings. Show someone at home the section(s) you drew for your group. Let me know what they think by posting a comment.

P5 Burns Supper Menu Task – 16.1.17

Below you will find useful links to websites which give you information about traditional Scottish food and ideas for alternative choices.

P5 RME – Christianity 5.12.16

Today you will be looking at different bible stories and the teachings of Jesus.  Below is an outline of your tasks and links to the information for each group. Please only access the links provided and only the one for your group.

Task

Using the video link assigned to your group, your task is to take relevant notes which can be used to produce a presentation (in a form of your choice) to present to the other groups in your class. Each group member should take their own notes which should then be shared within each group to ensure all group members have the same information.

You have 1hr to complete this part of your task and plan what you need for your presentation and let your teacher know. In your second session you have 1hr to prepare your presentation and in your third session you have 1hr to teach the other groups about your story/teaching of Jesus, present your information to the whole class and evaluate how well you have achieved the success criteria. Each group member must be fully involved with all aspects of the tasks.

Group 1 – The story of David and Goliath  – Video

Group 2 – The Good Samaritan – Video

Group 3 – The Story of Moses – Video

Group 4 – The Prodigal Son – Video

Group 5 – Jonah and the Whale – Video

P5H Painting Shirts

Good evening everyone.  As you (and your parents by now!) know we were painting today in preparation for the Christmas Fair on Saturday.  Quite a few of you managed to get quite a lot of paint on yourselves.  To try and prevent this the next time we do arts and crafts could you ask someone at home if you can bring in an old shirt or tee-shirt that is big enough to cover your uniform.  Please remember to label it with your name so we know which one is yours.

It would also be very helpful if you could bring in any old newspapers from home to cover the desks.

Thank you, see you tomorrow.

Mrs Hughes.
