Children in Need 2020

We learnt that 2020 is the fortieth year of Children in Need.

We enjoyed designing a Pudsey bandana/ eye patch and made Pudsey sandwich biscuits. Here we are enjoying eating them!

Have a lovely weekend and remember that Monday is an Inservice Day, so I will see you on Tuesday morning.😊

For today’s art lesson, we were developing the skill of using a stencil outline. We started off with a poppy shaped template.

Next we cut out the middle which was a bit fiddly!

Then we practised using a sponge so that the paint was textured when we dabbed it into the stencil.

Once we’d got the hang of how to use the stencil, we added our poppies to card.

Finally we added the centres of the poppies with black pen and added chalk strokes to create the grass.

Don’t they look effective?

For our Cosmic Yoga session today, we had a colourful Trolls adventure as an antidote to the damp, foggy and miserable weather outside. Our yoga skills are developing and flexibility is improving every week. Today’s yoga was fast-paced and everyone kept up with the moves very well. You could always try some yoga at home using the Cosmic Yoga site.

This afternoon we were learning some of the background to the First World War and how the poppy became a symbol of Remembrance.

After writing Bonfire and Firework acrostic poems and working with coordinates this morning, it was time for some science this afternoon. The instructions are below and you could have a go at this experiment at home. I think that I put too much food colouring into the oil and it turned out to look more like a volcano lava lamp rather than trails of fireworks, but hey, that’s Science, you never know exactly what’s going to happen!😅

Have a great weekend, take care and stay safe!😊

These are the poses that we chose to represent the action of a firework.

To develop our skill in using coordinates, today we were practising plotting the coordinates to create a firework picture. At times it was tricky to follow the lines to mark the correct point, but we made a good attempt at following the instructions. Don’t they look great !

Have a happy, fun and safe Bonfire Night!

Look at us hard at work today organising our notes for our Firework Safety Leaflet. We saw an excellent video which gave us ideas for some of the important facts that we needed to include. We all checked our next steps so that we know what to do to achieve success. I am really looking forward to reading them.

Here are our leaflets from last week relating to Black History Month.

mardi le troisieme novembre

We started off the morning by learning some basic French phrases and we will be using them in our daily morning routines.

These are photos from Cosmic yoga yesterday, which had a firework theme and introduced us to Cracker the dragon!

This afternoon we were practising our basketball 🏀 skills, by travelling and bouncing the ball trying to keep the ball at a steady height. We were able to describe what we did to develop our skills and how this improved our performance.

Happy Halloween 👻 👻

Doesn’t everyone look great? We had a lovely day working, developing skills and having fun at the same time. We have looked at Halloween co-ordinates, finished our silhouette artwork, decorated ginger bread  biscuits, made origami ghosts and  created glow in the dark magnets!! We’very been very busy with treats along the way🍬

I hope that you have a fun and safe Halloween weekend. Take care 🧙🏻‍♀️
