mercredi le vingt et un decembre

This morning we were continuing to learn about fact and opinion. We wrote about our school party including facts and opinions. In number we were investigating Christmas spending problems. This gave us practice in using the correct functions and helped us to revise adding and working out change.

This afternoon we had the Pantomime telling the story of  Aladdin.”Oh yes we did!!” Here are a few photos :

Monday 18th December 2016

Into the last week of school in 2016!!

Things definitely have a Christmassy feel as we have Christmas crafts and parties all around us this week.  P4 have their Christmas party tomorrow afternoon. Pupils can choose to wear their party outfit to school, wear uniform and change at lunch or go home at lunch to get changed.

Please remember to bring something to eat or drink to share with the class.

Tuesday 13th December

Even amongst all the excitement leading up to the Nativity performance and Christmas, the p4s are continuing to work hard on their reading and maths.  Today we were giving and following directions using compass points and working out a secret message from the teacher!  Why not give someone a set of directions to draw a Christmas picture or decode a secret message?

Reading

Enjoy reading any texts! Primary Times is a great way of starting to read reports and any Christmas/winter stories are an excellent way of keeping up your reading skills over the holidays. Remember that all reading over the holidays will be logged in your First Minister’s Challenge!

Number

Keep practising using money in real life! Making totals in different ways, paying the correct money in the shops and checking any change that you receive. There are lots of activities for using money on the following site, so your child can practise at their level of confidence and extend if they wish to.

Today we combined two of the physical Advent Calendar activities. We walked around the playground and made the shapes of teams of reindeer pulling Santa’s sleigh. Don’t we look good?

We worked together to identify fact and opinion in short passages and are getting better at justifying what we think.

This afternoon we were making money totals, reminding ourselves of the different notes and coins that we can use and using different combinations to find the same total.
