jeudi le vingt et un décembre

Excitement is mounting as we get closer to the big day! We have been revising grid references and co-ordinates on a wintery theme.

As part of our physical Advent Calendar activities, we were asked to create teams of reindeer and create a flying positions! Take a look at our intrepid teams ready for action!

In French we were writing and learning the words to “Vive le vent” and this afternoon everyone has had a great time watching the pantomime.

Party time!

Primary 4 had a fabulous Christmas party today. With so much dancing, games and party food I think everyone should sleep well tonight. Thanks to everyone who brought in goodies for the party. I hope you have a wonderful Christmas time and a very happy new year!

jeudi le sept décembre

We have noticed that we all have mental maths strategies that we might prefer to use. Some see the doubles, others bond to 10 first – it is exciting to see which strategy/strategies we will use each day!

In French we were matching the names of the animals to the correct graphic using the French words.

Here we are passing the bean bag as part of our Physical Advent Calendar activities. There was some great teamwork displayed along with small equipment handling skills.

mercredi le six décembre

Today as part of our physical Advent Calendar we were doing press-ups and sit-ups while counting down from 10.

In number we have been exploring the number patterns that happen when you keep adding on the same number e.g. start at 7 and keep adding on 5.

During language we are developing our comprehension skills and learning how to write clear, detailed and meaningful answers.

Please try to bring in your Nativity clothes in a named bag ASAP. Thank you.

Homework from 5/12/17 until 11/12/17

Spelling words:

This week Groups 1, 2 and 3 look over the words in the second column

Group 4 – look at the third word in each row – there will be 8 words.

For Group 5, look at the fourth word in each row – there will be 7 words

Make sure that you understand the meaning of any new words – use either a real or online dictionary and write out the meanings in your jotter!

Use an activity from your yellow sheet that you have not tried before to practise spelling your words

Reading – ongoing

You have been given a school book to read at home.  Please look after it and remember to have it in your bag each day.  Read out loud from your book to an adult to practise your word attack strategies, fluency and expression. Record any interesting VCOP that you come across in your reading.

We have been investigating fact family addition and subtraction related facts this week. Your sheet provides practice of thinking about how you can use and apply knowledge of number and strategies to help you complete the related facts.

This site has some different games at different levels of confidence for you to try out:

We practised getting onto Activelearn in school and so now everyone should remember their password to access from home. The password in the last box is 6kwa.

 Interdisciplinary Learning

Learn the words for our Nativity song so that you are confident and can sing out well.

lundi le quatre décembre

We used dice to give us a 2 digit number e.g. 36 , then we had to work out the number to add to it to make the correct total ( either 50 or 100). Try some more related facts and home and see whether you can discover any patterns.

We worked in our reading trios to find and highlight important parts of a story, then we challenged ourselves to summarise the story in less than 100 words. This is what we came up with as a class.
