mercredi le vingt-trois septembre

Today we walked a mile around the school as part of the MacMillan fundraiser. In our writing today, we learnt how to make an origami teacup and we carried these with us as a link to the coffee morning that we would usually have.

We also finished off our lions’ manes today- don’t they look great?

Have a well-earned break and enjoy your long weekend, everyone !

lundi le vingt et un septembre

Today we were learning about where different animals come from in the world and we were linking the information to our climate zone work.

For this week’s class homework please read Chapter 4 of Escape from Black Mountain on Activelearn. There are also independent texts on Bug Club for you to read too, if you’re not already reading a book at home. Please carry on playing the number games on Activelearn and Sumdog too!

Any homework information from Miss Ferguson will be posted on the main blog as well as on our class blog.

vendredi le dix-huit septembre

I hope that you enjoyed looking at our classroom and hearing about our learning and teaching in the video.

Today we have been learning more about verbs, which we revised yesterday with Mrs Davidson. We have started to learn about negative numbers and where we can see them used in real life.

If you can discover any other uses and examples of negative numbers in real life, please let me know next week.

Have a brilliant weekend!!

Virtual Meet the Teacher!

Hello everyone and welcome to our Primary 4/5 Virtual Meet the Teacher. I asked the children what they would like me to include and although I could not mention everything that was suggested, I hope that you enjoy “visiting” our classroom.

To support your child at home, please encourage them to read, find the meaning of any new words and discuss the text. Individual texts have been allocated on Activelearn and there are quizzes to enjoy too! Sumdog and Activelearn are great resources for practising number and maths skills to support place value learning in class.

If you have any questions, then please type them in the Comment box and I will get back to you soon. I hope that we will be able to meet in person soon , but until then ……. enjoy the video!

Today we were talking about important Skills for Learning and we were thinking about Communication Skills. One of our class members showed us some signs for words which could be used to communicate with others who are deaf or can’t hear very well.

May you could find out what these signs mean?

Everyone has been given a handprint template for Miss Ferguson’s special homework. In the fingers write words to describe yourself- this links nicely to the work we have been doing in class. Make the hand look attractive and make the words stand out. Once it is ready this week please bring it back to school with your name on the back of the sheet.
