Just a flavour of the great fun we had today!
Have a great long weekend, everyone!
Just to let you know that I have added new Activelearn and Sumdog activities to your accounts.
There will be DOJOS/House Points added for activity on the sites as well as spelling and grid homework. We will discuss and decide how many to allocate as a class.
We had great fun in drama retelling the story of The Three Little Pigs. Everyone is making progress in their ability to characterise through the use of body language, facial expression and word choices.
This afternoon we were given the words for our end of term show. Please enjoy practising the songs and learning the words. I am sure that the adults at home will be keen to join in, too!
In ICT we were creating tables and sorting living things into categories. We were using lots of different skills to create the databases.
Please remember to have gym kits and indoor shoes in school for circuit training – you will need them for Sports Day too!
There has been very little homework handed in so far this term, or activity on Activelearn and Sumdog. These activities are there to help you develop skills and learn in a variety of ways. Please take the opportunity to use the sites and have fun practising!
To get us in the mood we started with the “Count to 3” song and on different beats we had to perform a different action or sound.
This afternoon we were using untuned percussion instruments to practise loud and soft sounds. Two children got chance to conduct our orchestra and at the end we accompanied a piece of music using the best instruments and sounds to match the thunder, rain, metallic sounds and the beats of a swing section. It was great fun and everyone assessed their own performances.
Have a great May weekend everyone!
In P.E we are challenging ourselves to beat our previous scores in shuttle runs, skipping and step -ups and to become more accurate to get more points in throwing. Nearly all scores are better, so stamina should be increasing.
This is our Friendship Web- every member of the class is included for an act of kindness or showing qualities of being a good friend.
In music we were learning about the pitch of a sound and the pentatonic scale which has the notes doh, ray, mee, soh and lah. We played a game called Doh Destroyer. Why not try it at home?
For the second part of our art project, we took some twigs and looked at the detail in them to make our sketches as real looking as posssible. We compared the natural wood with the man-made packaging.
Homework
Today the class were introduced to the homework sheet for Term 3 and last week the new word walls for each spelling group were also issued. Please bring in your homework jotter so that this information can be stuck in, if you haven’t already done so.
Every week, spelling words should be practised using one of the ideas on the sheet given out earlier in the year.
Apart from the grid of activities, there are activities on Sumdog and Activelearn, so that you can practise your mental skills .
PLEASE COULD ALL HOMEWORK BE HANDED IN AS SOON AS IT IS COMPLETED.
This term we are learning about Living/Non-living things and then we will be moving on to Plants.

We were practising grid references and co-ordinates and finished the lesson by applying our learning to a game of Battleships. There are games of Battleships online if you want to play and practise.
During our art lesson we were learning about sketching. We took the rubbish that we had been saving and then we used the pencil to lightly sketch what we were seeing. Later we used coloured pencils to add colour and detail. The results are amazing- I am very impressed! Have a great weekend, everyone!!
In our reading lesson, we were focusing on using a playscript. Each play had 6 characters so we were all able to have a part. We were learning about how to use a playscript, paying attention to when characters had to speak, and to stage directions.
For our PSHE lesson we were thinking about what makes a good friend. There were lots of ideas and these are the qualities that we came up with.
Returning to drama, we used situations which enabled us to improvise what might happen if someone needed our help! There were some great group interactions, facial expressions and movements, with many children staying in role throughout.
In Maths we are practising using grid references and co-ordinates. There are good sites on Topmarks which will help you practise the skills we have been learning.
This afternoon we were comparing ourselves with classroom objects to identify the differences.
We came up with 7 processes that make us different from the classroom objects.
