Another busy day in p4. We started our block of learning badminton today. We had great fun practising our footwork and forehand shots using balloons.

We’ve had a busy today. This morning we were focusing on our prediction skills and have started our new class novel – George’s Marvellous Medicine.   We have also been finding out about ways to keep active and what the benefits of at least 60 minutes of exercise a day are.

Well, the day finally came…assembly day! P4 were fantastic.  They read their lines well and their songs and poetry were out of this world!

We’ve been working on reading comprehension, health and wellbeing and, of course, preparing for our assembly tomorrow.  We are so excited and can’t wait to perform for the school!

p4 have been learning about Robert Burns and are going to create and perform an assembly to the whole school all about him. Today we practised singing Red,Red Rose, we started to learn the Address to the Haggis and we wrote out our ideas to use in the Immortal memory, Toast to the Lassies and what the narrators would say. We also had a go at weaving our own cloth.  At the end of the day we all got to make snowmen in the playground.

Primary 4 had a fabulous Christmas party today. With so much dancing, games and party food I think everyone should sleep well tonight. Thanks to everyone who brought in goodies for the party. I hope you have a wonderful Christmas time and a very happy new year!

We have been learning about finding the nearest 10 and nearest 100.   Please try to find 10 numbers around you ( telephone number, car registration, house number, etc) and note them down in your homework jotter.  Beside them write the nearest ten and nearest hundred.  If you really want to challenge yourself, try the nearest thousand too!!

Remember our strategy :  circle the ten if you’re looking for nearest ten, circle the hundred digit if you’re looking for nearest hundred.  Then underline the digit to the right. Then say our rule:

1,2,3 and 4 go down to the one before.

5,6,7,8, and 9 go up to the next in line.
