Introduction to Homework Term 2

Homework – Term 2

Today the class were introduced to the homework grid for this term.

If you have not already brought in your homework polypocket and jotter today, then please make sure that you put it into your bag so that I can check your information tomorrow. Thanks.

Homework should be completed in the Homework jotter, unless a sheet has been provided. If you would prefer to create on a computer, e.g. menu, that is fine, too. Class dojos and house points will be awarded for all completed pieces  of homework.

A spelling activity should be completed each week, along with one of the tasks from the grid. Start to collect junk to help you make a Viking model in a few weeks’ time- this model will be a different focus from the one you made previously. I suggest that you start with the literacy activities for creating a character (practise the skills that we have been learning in class)/ create a menu or the HWB activity for the food diary.

The Sumdog login details are as they always have been and everyone can access the system in school. You can now practise your spelling words on Sumdog, so please use this facility as a different way to practise and consolidate your words. Also remember the challenges on there too!

The passwords for Activelearn are very similar- first 4 letters of first and last names with no capital letters or spaces, woodlands and 6kwa. Activities are allocated on Activelearn to reinforce and revise concepts covered in class .

If you are having problems getting onto these sites, please check for updates on your devices.

During our hall time, we were practising movements in preparation for our dance/drama to the piece of music The Ride of the Valkyries by Wagner. We have been learning about Viking Gods and have written a Viking myth, so the movement activity links well to these themes. Most children overcame any embarrassment and shyness to participate well using changes in speed, level and creativity of movement. It has been a very productive first week back, so have a lovely relaxing weekend, everyone.😊

A quick reminder that PE is on Wednesday and Friday so please could everyone bring in their kit and indoor shoes tomorrow. Thanks.

In our literacy lesson, we were working in small groups to explore and describe a character in lots of detail. We considered physical appearance, clothing, the way the character moved or stood, its emotiona, thoughts and feelings. The skills that we developed will be applied when describing characters from our own reading books.

In ICT we were researching information about la Féte des Rois and presenting the information in either a PowerPoint document or a Word poster. Our skills in adding images are developing well.

Bonne année 2020🎊!

It was great to see so many children back to welcome in both a new year and a new decade! This afternoon we were learning about La Fête des  Rois which celebrates Epiphany on 6th January. Many French people will be eating a galette des Rois today and whoever finds a charm in their slice will be king or queen for the day.

We started to create our own crowns to celebrate the festival.
