We learnt that during the Jewish festival of Rosh Hashanah, challah bread is eaten, so today we made our own challah bread. We took it in turns to add and mix the ingredients together, then during lunchtime, the dough was left to rise. After lunch we plaited the bread, so that it has the traditional shape.
While the bread was baking, we enjoyed apples dipped in honey, another symbol of Rosh Hashanah- the hope for a sweet year ahead.
Finally; we were able to taste the bread which everyone thought was delicious! We could have butter, honey or jam with it – so a lovely treat for the end of the day and a reminder of the important symbols of Rosh Hashanah.
