It is now Fairtrade Fortnight and everyone has the chance to design a Fairtrade mascot! All of the details are on the back of the sheet, so pay attention to them in order to achieve success.

Today we said goodbye to Miss Thomson and wish her good luck for her next school. We made Carnival inspired masks and sweets to celebrate having her with us for so long.  We will definitely miss her!

In RME we have been learning about Lent, Mardis Gras and Carnival.  We wrote senses poems based on what we learned about the Rio Carnival and then we word-processed our poems for display. We are very proud of the results.

 IDL – Science    

 You had a great time dissolving solids in water last week so here’s a great experiment to try at home! You will be able to identify the solids and liquids used in the experiment to make a “lava lamp”!  https://sciencebob.com/blobs-in-a-bottle-2/

Miss Thompson has been teaching us all about different types of questions.  For literal questions the answer is right there in the text. For inferential questions we have to use clues and “read between the lines” to find the answers.  Today we were answering evaluative questions where we had to look into our own minds to think about the answers and we all achieved our learning intention.  Miss Thompson has been reading George’s Marvellous Medicine to us and this afternoon we described our favourite moments and how they made us feel.  We produced some brilliant art to share our feelings and ideas.

We have been learning basic skills to help us progress to playing badminton. It has been great fun practising “fast feet” chasses in gym to change direction quickly!  We have also been learning about the benefits of exercise and got to choose our own way to share what we had learned. Some people wrote and performed a mini assembly or drama to the class, others created posters and books.

We all enjoyed a lovely birthday muffin from our birthday boy today…what a treat! 🙂🎂🍰

 IDL – Science      Make a list in your jotter of 5 solids, 5 liquids and 5 gases – you will have some ideas from the activities that you carried out with Miss Thomson on Friday.

This morning we were able to share our learning with our families and it was great to see so many people in class.

We were practising using money in different contexts: choosing coins to make the correct total, finding the value of our names, practising skills using ICT, “going shopping” and finding out how much our party food etc. would cost.

This afternoon it was Woodlands Got Talent and we were treated to a great array of acts and skills. Our girls did really well and came in Second Place- well done, you were fantastic!!
