jeudi le cinq octobre

Today we were working with Mrs Keith. We were thinking about bridging across 10 and using 10 frames to help us see how to make the calculation easier. Then we were challenged to see any patterns in our answers. Ask me to show you what we were doing and look at bridging and adjusting with other numbers e.g. 49 +8 is the same as 50+7.

mercredi le quatre octobre

We have had another busy day in P.4! Lots of thinking about our learning, using clues to help us and using what we already know – it’s all in a day’s work!!

Details about the Road Safety Campaign Competition are as follows:

  • use a sheet of A4 paper ( fold to create a leaflet)
  • design a leaflet with information to keep us safe
  • it must have a picture or diagram
  • it must have a slogan/ message

It has to be linked to 1 or all of:

  • speeding, driver slowing down times
  • crossing roads safely
  • walking to and from school safely
  • adults using the car park and roads safely.

It it would be best if you brought it in by 13th October because you must get forget to bring it back after the holidays!

Homework 3/10/17 – 12/10/17

Homework from 3/10/17 until 12/10/17

Language

Spelling words:

3/10/17  This week practise the words in the fourth row of your spelling wall.

Make up and write neatly 6 interesting sentences which include your spelling words and some connectives (but, so, because, then, after that, etc.). Remember that we should be practising our classroom learning all the time.

10/10/17 For this short week practise the fifth row of your spelling wall.

Reading

Find an interesting sentence or short paragraph from a piece of environmental text – reading book, poster, flier, newspaper report, recipe etc.  Copy it into your jotter and explain why you think it is interesting.

Number

Make sure that you are also completing your Activelearn games and activities at home. The id is the first 4 letters of the child’s first and last names, the password is the one that the child used in school ( these are all different depending on how they were set up last year) and the school code is 6kwa. (If anyone is having trouble accessing the site, please let us know).

Using the number square we have noticed that we can easily add or take away units and multiples of 10 and 100 by looking at the correct place value columns. Everyone has their own sheet to complete to practise this skill. Try these games to help you identify the place values quickly.
