This morning we were continuing our work on inference. We worked in groups to go around “blether stations” and identify text clues that we could use to make our inferences. We are going to try and use this skill when we are reading books or other texts to enrich our understanding of them.
In WW, WP? we were building up our community relationships and how we interact with each other. We have come to an exciting part of the story. Which group is being a bit lazy and not doing their job properly in the community………?
First of all, please remember to bring outdoor clothes and boots for the Spring Clean and an old T-shirt/old shirt for any inside activity where you might get messy.
In Whose Water, Whose Power? today we were putting some of our drama skills together. We practised our mime and choral repetition, then we acted “as if ” we were the people in our community.
Here we are passing round “the ancient cup” and saying why we are grateful for the water, what it means to us and how we wouldn’t be alive without it.
In these photos we were practising “freeze frame” showing an important action in our work to look after the water.
Today we were looking at features of non-fiction texts and instead of finding information, we were thinking about the purpose of each feature and why it is included in the text. We found it a very useful activity especially as the book was all about water!
Primary 4 have had a busy day starting with learning how to make inferences by finding clues and adding them to what we already know. Some of us went on to interpreting timetables while others practised telling the time using o’clock, half past, quarter to and quarter past. Why not test us at home using analogue and digital clocks? This afternoon we discussed why having rules in the gym is so important before deciding on a set of rules for the class when using the gym.
This morning we were finding halves and tenths of numbers and comparing which number was the biggest. We are making links between multiplying and dividing by 10. We realised that if we read word problems carefully, we could calculate those too!!
In our language lesson, we were learning about adverbs. Everyone was able to give an example and then we chose the correct adverbs to match the verbs in sentences. It is all about reading for meaning!
This afternoon we all signed our Drama Charter-
and started to learn and practise some movements and rhymes in our family groups to demonstrate how we look after the water in Cleanstream.
