Chemical Changes

This afternoon we carried out two experiments that both involved chemical changes.  In the first experiment, we created Casein Plastic from warm milk and vinegar.  Then in our second experiment,  we created carbon dioxide gas from vinegar and bicarbonate of soda. We were amazed to discover that the gas could actually blow up our balloons 🎈 🎈  Both experiments were irreversible.

Science- Salt Crystals

Sounds as if everyone had a great September Weekend, especially with the glorious sunshine.

This afternoon we were all excited to observe our salt crystals. The water had evaporated and the salt crystals were left behind. We were surprised by the perfect shapes of some of the crystals.

Meet the Teacher

Today in science, we were investigating factors which affect the speed of dissolving.  When our salt solutions reached saturation point we poured some of the solution into a Petri dish. Next we are going to let the water evaporate from the solution and the salt will be left behind.

Due to COVID restriction, this year’s Meet the Teacher  will be online. Please have a wee look at our video.

Mental Health

In our Health and Well Being lesson this afternoon, we were looking at how physical and mental health are related.  We then sorted activities to support our mental or physical health and decided whether or not the activity should takes place, everyday, sometimes, if there’s a problem or rarely.

Miss Ferguson’s Homework

Today each child in the school was given a handprint by Miss Ferguson.  The homework task for this week is to think of 5 words to describe yourself and then neatly write one of the words on each finger.  The palm can incorporate designs and/or your name.  Remember Miss Ferguson is looking for your hand to be neat, colourful and eye catching.

Happy Friday

This morning we played some maths games to help us learn more about negative numbers. Unfortunately, because of the heavy rain we missed our PE session with the coach.

Have a great weekend everyone and remember to keep safe.
