Your child will bring home a sheet with 12 activities covering a range of different subjects. Β They have been encouraged to complete an activity of their own choice each week and bring the completed work into school each Monday morning. House points will be given for completed work.
In Numeracy we are looking at 5 digit numbers. We have been learning to read, write, say and order them.
In Literacy, we have been reading our class novel The Diary of a Wimpy Kid. Today the children were discussing and making notes on the different characters.
Homework -The children will bring a sheet home tonight asking them to prepare a talk about something that is important to them. They can use cards to keep them on track with the main points or can bring in an object to help them. They will present their talk to small groups or to the whole class next week.
PE will be on a Monday and Wednesday. Kit will be required along with indoor shoes.
Primary 6 are glad to be back at school and are all working very hard.

Primary 6 used the Kodu Game lab to create a 3D virtual world. Then they used their coding skills to programme the characters to move and interact with the world.
This morning, we were joined again by Mr Carter, the geologist, and his wife. We split off into 3 groups exploring the fossils, rocks and minerals they brought along. Most of the rocks, fossils and minerals were found in and around Cumbernauld. Β We learned that 300,000,000 years ago Scotland lay beside the equator. Β This meant Scotland was surrounded by tropical forests and seas.
This morning we performed two songs for our family and friends at our annual Fairtrade Pancake Breakfast. Β We were brilliant and sang really loudly.
Yesterday we enjoyed celebrating World Book Day. Some of us came dressed as book characters and others wore their pyjamas.
On Monday 11th March, P6 will have the opportunity to browse the Book Fair and be able to purchase books until Thursday 14th March. Β Remember next Friday is Comic Relief day and children can bring Β£1, Β dress Β in red and/or have crazy hair.
This morning P6 were Β asked to trial Lego Therapy. Β Each of us had a role and we worked together as a team to create a model. Β We then switched roles and by the end of the session we all had the chance to be an engineer, a supplier and a builder.
Remember next Β Thursday, you can come dressed as a book character, wearing your pyjamas or school uniform for World Book Day. Β On Friday our class will be singing two songs at the Pancake Breakfast.
Primary 6 researched Fairtrade products and worked on creating presentations explaining the reason behind the Fairtrade movement Β and how it helps farmers and their communities. Some primary 6s used their new programming skills to create a Fairtrade animation in Β Scratch.
Primary 6 are learning to program sprites and create backgrounds. They also practised programming sound, speech and character animation. They graded themselves against against criteria as gold, silver or bronze.
