This morning we were joined by two music instructors from Greenfaulds High, Mrs Briggs and Mr McCrail.  They demonstrated how to play their instruments.  Any P6 pupil who would like to learn an instrument has a letter in their bag explaining how to go about this.  Please complete the form and return to school.

On Friday, if your child has brought their permission slip back, we will be going to the Luggie.  We will be joined by Tracy Lambert, from Cumbernauld Living Landscapes, who will help us learn about Luggie.  Children should bring a waterproof coat with a hood and wellies or old shoes/boots.

This morning we were learning how to develop characters by explaining what they say and what they do.  We had many opportunities to talk and work with different partners.  Then we acted out a short scene  before writing a paragraph about 2 or 3 characters.  Everyone put their jotters in the green marking tray which indicates they understood today’s work.  We then recorded in our diaries what we had learned in today’s lesson.

This morning we joined up with P5/6 for our Daily Mile.  It was nice to walk and talk with some of our old classmates.

For PE, after our warm up, we split in teams to play crab football.  It was tough going at times but we played well as teams and developed some tactics.

Today we text marked a page from our class novel, The Diary of a Wimpy Kid.  We were looking for nouns, verbs and adjectives.  We then found out about other parts of speech including prepositions, adverbs and conjunctions.

Remember to bring your PE kit tomorrow and on Wednesday.  If you’ve not brought back your permission slip, please bring it in tomorrow.

This morning we created our “I Am”poems in the style of John Clare. We used a online website called Oakdome to help creat our poems.  Next week, in ICT, we will edit and publish our poems for a display.

This afternoon we had structure activities.  We all had a turn a creating a scene from our class novel, The Diary of a Wimpy Kid, using Lego; colour theory in art and Active Learn on the ipads.

Please remember to give the A4 white envelope to an adult in your house then bring your permission slip etc back to school.  When everyone’s brought their permission slip back we can go to The Luggie.

This afternoon we created a new game based on Dodgeball.  We combined both the rules for the game from P5 and Mrs Pollock’s version.  We created a high energy and competitive game.   All most everyone had their PE Kit 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽😇.

Today we continued our revision work on Parts of Speech. We were looking at nouns and adjectives building on yesterday’s work on verbs.

 We also had PE this morning.  Most  children had their PE kits 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 but quite a few children didn’t have suitable footwear.  Due to health and safety reasons, children are not allowed to take part wearing socks only.  We have PE again tomorrow afternoon.

The school show takes place on Tuesday 19^th and Wednesday 20th June.  Please discuss with someone at home your costume.  The school will provide everyone with a blue t-shirt but you need to bring in from home denim jeans, denim shorts or denim skirt.  Please bring in your denim item by WEDNESDAY 13^th JUNE in a bag clearly labelled with your name.

This week you can purchase 2 tickets for the show.  In a few weeks, any tickets that are left will be sold on a first come first served basis.

Reading Book Amnesty

The school is missing many books so we’ve decided to hold a Book Amnesty.  At the school shows, there will be a box available to deposit any books that belong to the school.  It doesn’t matter how long you’ve had it for, just pop it in the box and no questions will be asked!!!  We just need the books back.  Please have a good check all over your home.  Thanks.

Big Clean

On Monday 11th June, everyone will be involved in the school’s Big Clean.  We will be getting the school spick and span.  Children can wear their old clothes on this day.
