This morning we read Chapter 5 of our class novel, Stig of the Dump. We met the Snargots. It was difficult to read this chapter because the Snargots spoke in non-standard English. We rewrote sentences into Standard English. Then we had part of our maths lesson outdoors.
This morning we were working with the Active Schools Co-ordinators. This week we played hockey and next week we will play a different sport. Everyone was well prepared with their kit- well done P6/7A.
Primary 6/7 will be taking part in a 4 week block of outdoor physical education every Friday from Friday 28th August. For this block of outdoor PE children will be asked to attend school on this day wearing a waterproof jacket, plain black or grey jogging bottoms, a school polo shirt and a school jumper.
This afternoon we went outside for some fresh air and a run around after a wet play and lunch. Remember to bring a jumper or cardigan to school as we need to keep the windows open in our classroom to ensure the room is well ventilated.
The school has a new reading programme called “Bug Club”.
Today I’ve allocated the book we’re using in class. This eek’s book is called “Under my Feet.”
To access Bug Club, go to login page at Active Learn
use your login and passwords ( we went over these of Friday). The school code is 6kwa. Any problems, post a comment at the top of this page and I’ll get back to you.
This morning, near the end of our maths lesson, we went outside. We had to explain to each other what we had learnt in our place value lesson and make up questions to test our understanding of today’s lesson.
This afternoon, we continued our work on Cultures. Having looked at what culture is, our own culture , and compared other cultures, we started to create our own tribe and what their culture might be.
This afternoon we continued our work on colour theory. We learned how to make tones then created our own abstract designs using the tones we made. Next time, we will look at tinting.
Today we started to think about Place Value and we created a poster to illustrate all the things we could remember from before. At the beginning, we only had a few ideas but by the end our posters were almost full.
For now, we don’t get out to play at lunchtime but straight after lunch , we go out for the Daily Mile. Unless the weather is really, really bad, we will go out so make sure you bring a jacket with a hood to school.
