S3 Industrial Cadets Challenger Award
S3 took part in a full morning of STEM Activities hosted by EDT Scotland. The day, funded by the European Space Agency, began with discussions based around the perfect parachute that would be needed for a Mars Rover to land safely. Pupils then worked in groups to design and create their own parachute with a variety of shapes, materials and sizes taken into consideration.
After break the pupils listened to a briefing on what was needed for a space port to be built before taking on the task of designing their own space port somewhere within Scotland. Pupils discussed local resources that could be used, areas available, type of launch facility, adaptation of existing areas such as airports, the local wildlife & everything their Space port would need to exist.
Well done to all the S3 pupils who took part in the day and have been awarded their Industrial Cadets Challenger Award.
