Good Morning Primary 5 and Primary 6,

How are you today? Are you ready for some more learning at home? It is good to see so many of you completing all the tasks set which will keep you moving forward in your learning while you are off school. Well done on all your hard work. If you haven’t started yet it is not too late, there are lots of tasks to choose from on glow and MyTeams. Let me know if you are struggling with anything and need any help.

Literacy:

1. Login to Oxford Owl and complete the task set for your group. Click on ‘My class login’ at the top of the page and it will ask for a Class name: sthelensp56  and  Password: sthelens9 (if it asks for an email address you have clicked on login instead of ‘My class login’).

>>Onomatopoeias – Read ‘Storm Chasers’ pages 28 to 31. Write at least one paragraph predicting what you think is going to happen next. Use your prior knowledge of what you have read so far to help you make sensible predictions about what the characters will face next. Try to explain your thinking and put as much detail into your answer as you can. Then read pages 32 to 38 to see if you were right.

>>Adjectives – Read ‘Double Exposure’ pages 21 to 35 and complete the questions given in the Word file below.

Adjectives – Double Exposure questions

>>Metaphors –  Read ‘Tales of the Underworld’ page 48 to 56 and create a Visualiser for a character of your choice. You could choose Orpheus and describe how brave and determined he is by giving some examples of what he has done. If you want to use some examples found on other pages this is okay too. Try to describe his personality, life experiences, behaviours and anything else you think might give a picture of the character.

Try to take part, we need at least 10 from the class to take part for our class to appear on the leaderboard. When you login to Sumdog on the left panel you should see North Lanarkshire Maths Contest and it will show you how many questions you have completed. Lets try and get a great results P5/6.
