I hope you are all well and have been working hard whilst I have been at the hub. I have missed hearing from you over the past 2 days. I am so happy to be back at our online school and look forward to hearing from you all again.
Let’s begin our day with our morning prayer 🙏🏼
God our Father, as we prepare to begin our work, we ask you to help us use properly, the many gifts you have given us, so that we may fully benefit from our day together.
St. Barbara, pray for us.
I would also like you to say a Hail Mary, during this time I would like you to close your eyes and ask Our Lady to not only keep you and your family safe but also the sick and for those caring for them.
Now, before we begin today’s activities…I haven’t forgotten about announcing the winner of the Sumdog Competition 🏆
I was super impressed with how many of you took part, almost the whole class and it was very close between you all. The final results and top 3 were…
3rd- Jude M
2nd- Miley
and in 1st place… Anna!
Well done everyone who took part, give yourself a pat on the back 👏🏻
Remember these are only suggestions, you can adapt these to suit you. The main thing is that you try.
You will all be sad to know that tomorrow and Monday are a bank holiday which means a long weekend and no online learning for you! Online learning will continue again on Tuesday.
I hope you all have a fabulous fun-filled weekend, it is deserved. Come back well rested and ready to learn.
Good morning boys and girls, I hope you had a lovely day yesterday and enjoyed the sunshine! I had my paddling pool up again! A little bit of sunshine makes us feel happy 😃 Let’s begin today today with our morning prayer:
God Our Father, as we prepare to begin our work, we ask you to help us to use properly the many gifts that you have given us so that we may fully benefit with our day together, St Barbara Pray for us.🙏
Literacy
It is Thursday so time for some story writing. I would like you to write about your best friend. I would like you to write the title ‘My Best Friend’ into your jotter. You won’t have seen your best friend for some time now unless it is your brother or sister so have a little think about your best friend.
What is his/her name?
How old is he/she?
What colour of hair does he/she have?
What colour of eyes does he/she have?
What does your best friend like to do?
Why are you best friends?
I’d love to read some of your stories about your best friends, remember that you can email me a picture of your work.
Well done to all the boys and girls who completed their reading yesterday, if you didn’t get a chance to read your story try to do it today.
Numeracy
Yesterday, we looked at ordering numbers, we are going to continue this today.
https://www.topmarks.co.uk/ordering-and-sequencing/caterpillar-ordering
Why not try some caterpillar ordering. 🐛 🐛
https://www.topmarks.co.uk/ordering-and-sequencing/coconut-ordering
Or coconut ordering. 🥥 🥥
How are you all? I hope you have had a good week and are looking forward to a nice long weekend. Another week of home learning is almost complete and I am so proud of all of your efforts over these past few weeks.
Let’s start the day with our morning prayer. Let us thank God for his continued love and guidance. On a Thursday we take a few moments out of our day to remember all of the brave NHS workers. Close your eyes and say a special prayer to keep them safe as they do their job.
I hope you all have a terrific Thursday and a nice, refreshing long weekend. Fingers crossed the sun will shine as it makes everything brighter and better ☀️.
I will be back with another daily post and some fun learning activities on Tuesday.
Hello everyone, thank you to those of you who sent me work yesterday. I have a little issue just now with my inbox and can therefore not reply. I am working on this today! But rest assured, I have seen all your work and I am very proud of you for working hard and completing the tasks.
RE
Morning prayer and a Hail Mary. The month of May is a special time to pray to Our Lady. After Easter, when we say a Rosary, we would say the Glorious Mysteries. The first Glorious Mystery is the Resurrection of Jesus. Try to say a Hail Mary and thank God for the Resurrection.
Literacy
Revise your common words or phoneme words. Ask an adult to dictate a sentence to include these words. Remember to include capital letters and full stops.
Today I would like to focus on Instructional Writing. Look at the powerpoint below to revise how to do this:
You may choose to write instructions on how to make your favourite sandwich or how to bake your favourite type of cake. Remember to ask yourself, could someone easily follow these instructions? If we were in class right now, I would say “If an alien came to Earth from another planet, would they be able to follow these instructions and successfully make the sandwich or bake the cake?”
I have attached a template for you if you wish but please don’t feel the need for it if you can’t print it out. It’s a guideline to the layout.
(If you have trouble clicking this link then copy it and paste it into your address bar)
Using your times table to 6, show me 5 examples of how division is the inverse of multiplication. You may use examples from the game you have just played.

We are approaching the celebration of VE day, which stands for Victory in Europe day. It is the day Germany was defeated by the Allied forces marking the end of the Second world war. You can read more about it here:
https://www.bbc.co.uk/newsround/48201749
Have a go at this comprehension task which tells you important facts about VE day. There are questions to answer.
*Note to parents: there are 3 differentiated tasks here, I would expect P3 to be able to do the first one and P4’s to the second one, however you can choose which one best suits your child’s ability.)
Here are the answers to yesterday’s maths questions.

This is not how we would write out sums to find the answer so don’t write them this way in your jotter. Use place value, carrying and decomposition (borrowing) to find your answers.
I’ll post the answers to these tomorrow or you can send me your answers at:
gw09mcintoshdavid3@glow.sch.uk
Your spelling words for this week are:
process, resources, soldier, technique, weight, proposition, Saturday, stationary, texture, women
Today I would like you to start using this week’s spelling words to play IRL Bingo.
Write all of your spelling words out on a scrap of paper.
Each time you use one today in conversation tick it off.
When you have used all of the words yell, “Bingo!”
Did I mention that you also had to spell the words in conversation?
Example
“Dad, making the dinner must be a difficult process. P-R-O-C-E-S-S”
If you really want to play Hardcore IRL Bingo don’t tell anyone what you are doing or why you are doing it.
After 19 chapters we are now finished, “How to Train your Dragon.”
Here are the answers to yesterday’s comprehension exercises.
Bring flowers of the rarest
bring blossoms the fairest,
from garden and woodland and hillside and dale;
our full hearts are swelling,
our glad voices telling
the praise of the loveliest flower of the vale!
Refrain
Refrain:
O Mary we crown thee with blossoms today!
Queen of the Angels and Queen of the May.
O Mary we crown thee with blossoms today,
Queen of the Angels and Queen of the May.
Their lady they name thee, Their mistress proclaim thee, Ah, grant that thy children on earth be as true as long as the bowers are radiant with flowers, as long as the azure shall keep its bright hue Refrain
Time for a Wednesday workout.

Remember you can still choose another task from your updated learning grid and there are other tasks on Sumdog, StudyLadder, FirstNews and Scholastic Books.
I hope that you’re well, have had breakfast and are ready to go!
Let’s begin with the morning prayer:
God our Father, as we prepare to begin our day’s work, we ask you to help us to use properly the many gifts you have given us so that we may fully benefit from our day together. Amen.
Health and Wellbeing
So far this week we’ve completed a Spanish Hula and a French Disco. Today we’re going to focus on yoga and specifically on yoga poses.
Have a look at the following and start practising:
Literacy
Today you are going to read an extract from, ‘Why the Whales Came,’ by Michael Morpurgo. Once you have read the text, please answer the questions. The answers will be published tomorrow.
Yesterday I asked you to make a May Altar. I hope that you managed to do that – I am looking forward to seeing some pictures.
Today your task is to say a decade of the Rosary in front of your May Altar. In school I ask you to think of a person or a group of people you would like to remember in your prayers. Think of someone special or a group of people….perhaps you might like to pray for yourself.
Settle quietly:
Make the Sign of the Cross, then say: Our Father , Hail Mary (ten of these), Glory be to the Father, St. Barbara, pray for… (three times) and make the Sign of the Cross again.
To help you I have posted the Hail Mary in English and in Spanish.
Learning Grids
Please select one task from the Learning Grid.
We have come to the end of our learning tasks for today! I am sure that you have worked really hard so it’s time for a rest and a play! Enjoy your evening everyone and I’ll see you tomorrow.
As this is a short week, with no school on Friday, that means we are more than half way through the school week so let’s keep working hard for these last 2 days. I hope you have all had breakfast and are ready to begin your day. It looks like it’s going to be a sunny day today so that should put a big smile on everyone’s face. Make sure you get out in the garden today and make the most of the sunshine ☀️.
We begin our day as always by saying our morning prayer. Close your eyes and ask Our Lady, during her special month, to continue to protect and guide us during these uncertain times.
In class on a Wednesday morning we normally watch Newsround and discuss some of the news items with our peers. This morning I would like you to watch Newsround and discuss something that you learned with someone in your household.
Good morning boys and girls, I hope you have been enjoying the lovely weather and getting some fresh air and exercise. Let’s begin today with a Hail Mary as May in the month of Mary.
Literacy – join in with your Jolly Phonics songs for your initial sounds and phonemes – th, sh, ch, ng and wh.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U2HYM9VXz9k
Common words – read all of the common words in your word tin to a parent or someone at home. Put them into two piles. The first pile should be all the words that you can read really well and the second pile, the ones that are trickier for you – practise these ones even more this week. On Monday Mrs Connolly asked you to focus on some common words, continue to practise these words using fun spelling. You can write them in chalk, using play doh, shaving foam, pasta, flower spelling or any fun way you can think of.
Reading – I have assigned you all a new book to read. Firstly, listen to your story then read it aloud to a family member. At the end of the story there is a quiz, choose three questions from the quiz and write the answer in a sentence (copy and complete). Remember, to write in a sentence you need to have a capital letter at the start and full stop at the end. If you did not receive an email from me with your child’s login details please contact me: gw09wallacemarie2@glow.sch.uk
Numeracy – Let’s start with some fun at the zoo.
Now try counting in 2’s to 20.
Can you count backwards from 30 to 1?
Write these numbers in your jotter from the lowest to the highest, put them in the correct order.
RE– May is the month of Mary, the mother of Jesus and in school we would usually make a beautiful altar in class dedicated to Mary. Can you colour this picture of Mary for your own altar or draw a picture of Mary?
I hope you are all safe and well. I am missing you all very much.

Today we are going to continue with our addition revision.
Please select the same colour you chose yesterday and click on the link below to access today’s tasks.
Remember to pray each day. As it is May, the month of Mary, we should take the time to say a Hail Mary each day.
Now I would like you to create your own Hail Mary prayer poster. You can write out the prayer nice and neatly and include pictures. You may wish to do this in colour. Can you display your prayer poster on the May altar you created last week?
I would love to see some pictures.
Have a lovely day Primary 3 and I will speak to you soon.
