STEM Special

Many thanks to those who responded to our appeal for engineers to come to the school and speak with the children. We had a fantastic morning yesterday; the children thoroughly enjoyed listening to our four guest speakers.

Hopefully  they have inspired many engineers for the future!

Penny the Panda

Welcome to all of our new Primary 1 children and to all of your families!

Many of you have been using the story of ‘Everywhere Bear’ in your Early Years’ Centres. Everywhere Bear travels to lots of different places and has lots of tales to tell.

In St. Barbara’s we have Penny the Panda.

Our Primary 7 Transition Ambassadors have created their very own stories and video clips with Penny and her friends to give you more information about the school.

There are six clips altogether.

To watch the clips you will need to login to the St. Barbara’s YouTube Channel:

  1. Open Google Chrome
  • Type YouTube
  • Type St. Barbara’s Teddy

The P.7 children would love to know if you enjoyed the films. If you have time, please send them a message on Twitter: @St_BarbarasPS

NL £150 Fuel Hardship Payments

Dear Parent,

Please find information below regarding fuel hardship payments available to residents on a low income but earning too much to be eligible for any other cost of living financial assistance provided by the Scottish or UK governments.

Applications open for fuel hardship payment

Fuel hardship payment

Low-income households in North Lanarkshire can apply for our £150 fuel hardship payment.

The payment is aimed at residents on a low income but earning too much to be eligible for any other cost of living financial assistance provided by the Scottish or UK governments.

Details of income thresholds and how to apply are available at www.northlanarkshire.gov.uk/fuelpayment

The deadline for applications is 3 December at 5.00pm.

“We know that many people are worried about rising energy bills, so we are allocating £2.161 million to offer a one-off payment to households on a low income,” said Councillor Paul Kelly, Depute Council Leader.

“This is part of our eight-point cost of living action plan to help support residents who are trying to cope with spiralling living costs by providing a cash boost towards household bills.

“As part of the application process, we will also offer free support and assistance on benefits, debt and budgeting advice, and advice on staying warm while reducing energy costs.”

Information is also available at www.northlanarkshire.gov.uk/benefits-and-money/cost-living-help.

Payments to successful applicants will begin at the end of October and will be made in the order that applications have been received.
