Hi Everyone! Happy New Year to you all.

It’s been a very busy first week back and we are all delighted it is Friday! Since it is a brand new year we have been looking at and discussing calendars and how we use them. We have been talking about how many months are in a year and the sequence of them. We have also been very busy this week making our own calendar which we will bring home next week to hang on the wall.

In Literacy we are continuing to work on our sounds and common words. We are using what we have learned to build our own cvc words and put them into simple sentences. This week we wrote about our favourite present. We loved listening to each other and hearing all about the amazing presents we got. We know we are very lucky children!

In Numeracy we are continuing to explore addition and have been discovering what happens to a number when we add 0 or 1. We have also been learning about the commutative law, we know it doesn’t matter what order we add 2 numbers the total will always be the same.
