Our Journey through January

In language we have been working on writing reports. Last week we wrote about dinosaurs and this week we wrote about the Charity Mary’s Meals, we know how important it is to use subheadings to grab the attention of the reader in our reports.  Some of us have finished reading ‘Tilly and the Badgers’ and will begin our new novel next week.

In Maths we have been learning to use an extended range of numbers beyond 5 digits as well as negative numbers. We have been looking at what each number represents in larger numbers.

We also used our problem solving skills to complete a ‘Murder Mystery’ challenge!

We created a STEM (Science Technology Engineering Maths) Challenge when we built our own dinosaurs using cocktail sticks and midget gems. We learned about weight distribution and why it’s important not to make structures top heavy.

We have been enjoying learning some Scottish dances, especially as it was Burns Day last week. We learned ‘The Flying Scotsman’ this week.

TToday we attended First Friday Mass, well done to Primary 6 for leading us all so well.

Thanks for visiting our blog,

Miss Fitzgerald and Primary 5h
