Hi Everyone,

P2/1 have been busy working hard like Santa’s Little Helpers finishing off the Christmas craft that will be on sale at the Fayre tomorrow. We have made sparkly Santa hat baubles to put on your tree and of course the all important Reindeer dust!

In Literacy this week P1 have been learning the words like and for. Next week we will be learning to read he and his. We have also been working on the initial sound ‘h’ this week and are really good at saying a word beginning with the sound. Next week’s sound will be ‘c’.

In Numeracy we have been investigating the concept of addition. We have been enjoying lots of practical games combining quantities and know that when we combine two groups together the answer is always more. Next week we will look at what happens when you add one to a number.

In Literacy P2 have been learning the phoneme that sounds like ‘I’ but looks like ‘igh’, ‘i_e’ and ‘y’. It’s tricky but we have been playing lots games to help us learn it and are remember to use it in our writing. We have been looking at persuasive writing this week and worked really hard to produce posters to persuade people to come to our Christmas Fayre.

In Numeracy P2 have been investigating the concept of subtraction and know that when you do a subtraction sum the answer is always less. This week we have been using the strategy of using a number line to help us get the answer. Next week we will use the strategy of keeping the big number in our head and counting back.

Thanks for reading our blog.
