Hi everyone! Another fun filled week in Primary 1! Here’s what we have been up to….
In Maths we have been continuing to develop our counting skills. We have been chatting about easy ways to count objects to ensure we count everything once. We decided that lining things up makes them easier to count. We were working on sorting with our visitor Mrs Keith. We were sorting teddy bears, elephants, socks, mini beasts, people and dinosaurs. We came up with lots of great ideas on how we could sort things using different criteria.
In Literacy we learned our first 2 common words; at and a. We were exploring the letter ‘t’. Our ‘t’ table is full of things we brought in for our sound. We enjoyed our activities to help us learn our words and sound. We are continuing to work on rhyming words and loved exploring our book of the week, ‘The Cat in the Hat.’ We drew great pictures of the cat from the story and enjoyed our planning board play activities related to the story. Our story writing lesson was ‘I am switching on a light’. We are continuing to develop our storytelling through our pictures. The difference in our drawings in just 3 weeks is amazing! Mrs Murphy was very impressed with our drawings!
We are learning about our senses in Science and this week we learned at some parts of our eye. We learned that the most common eye colour in our class is blue.
That’s this week’s snapshot of what we have been up to. See you all next time!
