Good morning everyone how are you today? I hope you are well. We wish our good friend Rong Rong a very happy new year today, we hope 2021; the year of the Ox is happy, healthy and prosperous for her and her family. Let’s get started with our story today which is called Lanterns and Firecrackers.
Who would like to learn how to make a Chinese lantern?
You will need coloured paper, scissors, some glitter / collage items, stapler or Seloptape.

Who fancies getting their cooking apron on again? Let’s try and make some Maple Pineapple
You will need
2tablespoons of unsalted butter
2-2 ½ cups of pineapple cut up into small chunks
1 tablespoon pure mayple syrup
In a saucepan, melt the butter over a medium heat. Add pineapple and cook, without stirring, until all liquid from the pineapple has evaporated and the chunks begin to caramelize, about 8 minutes. Stir in maple syrup, reduce heat to low and cook until pineapple is fully coated, about 1 minute. Allow to cool before eating.
Would you like to make their very own dragon for the dragon dance?
You will need a big box
Paints
Collage/ glitter/ ribbons
Sheet or piece of material
A bell if you have one
Pint your box and decorate it with any collage you have, have some ribbons hanging down at the sides as decor.
Attach on a sheet to the back of the box
Now you can go under the sheet at hold the box with your two hands
If your brother or sister or mum or dad can get under the sheet with you maybe they could ring the bells as you sing the song “we have made ourselves a dragon with a painted sheet”
If you don’t have a big box and sheet maybe you could make little dragon with egg boxes or toilet roll holders?
Our song today is We Have made ourselves a Dragon
We have made ourselves a dragon with a painted sheet,
A ferocious face and 50 pairs of feet,
Wavers on his tail and ribbons as well,
Frills and decorations and lots of little bells
Now for a bit of ribbon dancing
Grab a ribbon or a scarf and see if you can follow the dance moves to the ribbon dance. Maybe you can make up some of your own dance moves too
