Maths: We have been learning about ‘Scale’ in maths. Scale is when an object is too big to put on paper (e.g. 1: 100 or 1cm for every 2m). Scales are used in maps and blueprint drawings.
We have also been learning about how fractions, decimals and percentages relate (e.g. ½, 0.5, 50%). We have also been calculating the percentage of an amount (e.g. 5% off of £100 = £95).
Literacy: We have read chapters 9-12 of ‘Far from Home’ and completed a visualiser on the character Mrs Cleggins. We made sure we added quotes describing Mrs Cleggins, page numbers and a brief explanation.
We wrote to Archbishop Tartaglia telling him about our chosen confirmation names and why we chose our saint.
Health and Wellbeing: P.E. (Indoor) We have been learning about central net skills i.e. how to hit a shuttlecock or tennis ball. We have realised that it is important to keep our eyes on the ball or shuttlecock and stand balanced in a train track position, feet shoulder width apart and one foot in front of the other.
P.E. (Outdoor) We have been learning athletics and doing stations of ladders, hurdles, hula hoops for jumping over as hurdles or through, tennis skills, javelin and shot putt. We are developing our technique and building our stamina.
Chicks: We were happy to see the chick hatch and get a chance to hold them.
