February!

Hi Everyone.

We have been working hard since our last blog and can’t believe it’s February already! We all did a fantastic job of reciting, The Wee Rid Motor, at our Scottish assembly this week. We are very proud of ourselves.

In Literacy P1 have started learning the spelling of the common words that we have learned to read, we have a spelling booklet as part of our weekly homework now. We still have sight vocabulary that we are learning each week too. Next week we’ll be learning about the letter ‘q’.

In Maths P1 have been continuing with addition. We have been looking at different strategies to complete an addition calculation and this week we have been using a number line and jumping forward. Next we will look at keeping the big number in our head and counting on.

In Literacy P2 have been working on a new phoneme which sounds like ‘f’ but looks like ‘ff’ and ‘ph’. We have also been learning some new sight vocabulary to help us read trickier books. We have a new word wall to search for, read and circle the words as part of our weekly homework. Next we will be leaning about the ‘oy, oi’ phoneme.

In Maths P2 have been continuing work on grouping. We have also been looking at place value and have been breaking down numbers into tens and units(ones). We have also been working on our mental maths skills and been learning our double sums.

We have really loved our Toys topic. We have loved learning about toys from the past. Thanks everyone who returned the questionnaire, it really helped us understand what toys were like in the past.

In Health we have finished our block all about healthy eating, and what a healthy plate looks like. We are moving on to look at medicine safety.

Thanks for reading our blog.
