Literacy-

This week in literacy the P6s got their new novels called the 11th Orphan. So far we have done prior knowledge and metalinguistics on our new novel. We learned about the word light fingered and many others. We used different strategies to find out the meanings of new words e.g R.O -read on. For prior knowledge we used information that was  on the blurb and front cover to try and figure out what the book was going to be like. We also revised parenthesis which is a statement where brackets are used.

Numeracy-

We learned about length using trundle wheels in the playground. We measured the width of the senior playground and some others and also two of our own. We did a maths test on the two times table. We also revised borrowing in subtraction. We have learned about the units you use to measure weight. We know about grams an Kilograms. 1000g = 1kg.

Story writing-

This week in story writing we were introduced to a new genre called discursive writing. We learned how to assess a piece of discursive writing.  We had to look closely at the genre targets and identify them in a piece of writing.

Art-

In art we drew and painted beautiful cherry blossom trees. We used water colours to paint them.

Assembly-

Today in assembly a bagpiper came in and played great songs including baby shark!

Well done to this weeks star pupil-Francesca!
