Hi. We hope everyone had a great Christmas and New Year.

P2/1 have been working really hard over the last 2 weeks.

P1 have nearly learned all the letters of the alphabet, over the last 2 weeks we have been learning all about the letters o, b, f and u. We are fantastic at saying a word beginning with these sounds. We have also had some new sight vocabulary to learn; big, just, are and if,and are doing a great job at spotting these words around the class and in our reading books! Next week we will have a brand new spelling booklet for homework to start learning how to spell some simple words.

In Maths P1 have been working on their addition skills. We know that when we combine 2 quantities together the answer  is always higher. We have been using cubes to help work out the answer and next week we will use a number line as a different tool to help with addition.

P2 have been working on the phoneme that sounds like OO but looks like u_e, ew and ue. We have also had some new spelling words to learn ; they, are, my and her. We have also been investigating how to put words into alphabetical order. We know that you need to use the alphabet and look at the first letter of each word.

In Maths P2 are working on subtraction. We have been finding the difference between 2 numbers by using a number line and counting on. We have also started looking at grouping. We can make equal groups and combine them together to make one larger number.

In Health we have been learning about the 5 main food groups and have been chatting about how food from these groups contribute to a healthy balanced diet. We know that sugary food and drink should only be eaten occasionally!

Thanks for reading our blog.
