Propaganda, Rationing and The Blue Doo

Literacy: In storywriting this week we used our knowledge about the impact of WWII on lifestyle. We discussed how food was rationed, mansions/large buildings transformed into hospitals, children were evacuated to the country, women had to work in factories, in the army, on farms and how the blitz affected homes.

Here are our Starwriters for this week.  Well done!

We read more chapters of ‘War Horse’ which we are really loving – even though it is very sad.

We are learning our Scottish Poem ‘The Blue Doo’ by Jimmy Copeland.

Modern Languages: We have learned more about describing ‘My Self in Italian. In French we are learning the different names for family members.

Numeracy & Maths:  We have just finished learning about area and perimeter and can work out the area and perimter of rectangular shapes. The other group have completed 3D shapes and have started measuring objects.

Social Subjects: WWII we used our art skills to draw a WWII proaganda poster. We have also learned about rationing, women in the war and much more. We are all looking forward to making our air raid shelters for homework.

Congratulations to our Star Pupil – Ruby!

There is a Sacrament of Confirmation meeting for all parents in the Church Hall on Monday 21st January at 8pm.
