Primary Palaeontologists

We are enjoying our novels, they always leave us wondering what will happen next! This week we have been focusing on Inference and Metalinguistics. We also began looking at the targets for the Report Genre which is the one we will be focusing on over the next few weeks. Last week we created persuasive posters for drink for Burns Day, our Star Writers received their own drinks with their labels today. Maybe we’ll see them in the shops in the future.

In Maths we have been been looking at degrees of turn, we can recognise and make 90, 180, 270 and 360 degree turns. We have been working on using the 8 compass points as well as using coordinates to place points on a grid.

For Topic this week we became mini Palaeontologists, we considered what this specialist job entails. We completed a few challenges where we had to first extract marshmallows from a biscuit then we extracted ‘Chocolate Chip Fossils’ from cookies, we realised how gentle and focussed we had to be to complete this work.

Our focus on Art this week was mixing colours as we painted Velociraptors.

In RE we have been learning about the life of Moses and will be looking further at the 10 commandments. In PE we have continued to work on our fitness through different stations. We have been continuing to practise our song for the Burns Assembly, we’re singing ‘If it Wisnae Fur Yer Wellies!

Thanks for reading this week
