Rotation, Chunking and WWII

Our Star Pupils:  Congratulations to Kieryn and Erin our Star Pupils from last week and this week.

Maths:  This week the perfect pupils have been doing maths and in our maths work we have learned how to divide using chunking.

See an example of our work here:-

We also learned about rotational symmetry and worked out where the shape moved to using 90°, 180° and 270°. We used tracing paper to help us rotate the shape.

Literacy:  We read factual books called ‘War Heroes’ and found information about people who served in the wars and what important things they did.

Topic:  We have started our new topic, WWII and listened to Neville Chamberlain announcing the outbreak of war on 3rd September 1939.

HWB:  In P.E. we started Athletics and did some quick warm-up stations. We discussed why it is important to warm up our bodies before exercise.  We then learned the starting position for racing and why it is important i.e. the right position lets you push off your back leg and gets you a better start with more speed and power. We then practised this, running different lengths of the pitch. We really enjoyed it and realised we need to build up our stamina.

ART: Our Christmas crafts are coming along well…. Don’t miss out!! Come to our Fayre on Saturday 1st December.

Thank you for reading our blog!
