Hi everyone! We are all well rested after the October holiday and were ready to get back to our learning on Monday.
In Maths, we have been exploring the words ‘more’ and ‘less’ and developing our understanding of what they mean. We have been comparing sets of objects and have been playing games to consolidate and extend our learning. We have been talking about one more and one less and have worked out that when using a number line, 1 more is the same as going to the number after and 1 less is the same as the number before. We have also been continuing to explore symmetry through play activities.
In Literacy we have been learning the letter ‘r’. Ask me some words which start with this sound. We have been practising our blending skills to read and build 3 letter words. It can be tricky but we are doing great. We are really good at using the picture in books to help us read and now we are learning that looking at the first letter of a word or trying to blend it can also help.
Our planning board play activities have been Halloween themed. Our home corner is now a spooky house! Some of us were painting pumpkin faces in the creative area, we were building spooky houses in construction and we were drawing spooky pictures in our drawing and writing area. Some of us were even trying to write simple sentences about Halloween using a word mat to help.
We had great fun at the Halloween disco on Thursday night and are looking forward to our parade on Wednesday. Hope to see you there. Bye for now!
