Hi everyone! As we near the end of our first term at school we have been chatting about all the things we love about school. Playing, school dinners and making new friends seem to be the favourites!
This week we have been very busy as usual. In Maths we have been exploring number tracks. We have been ordering numbers, moving backwards and forwards on them, talking about numbers in relation to each other and making up our own games. We continue to practise our counting skills and our number formation is coming on a treat! We have been exploring symmetry through our play activities. We particularly enjoyed making our own symmetrical patterns and folding over our paintings to create a symmetrical picture.
In Literacy we have been exploring the letter ‘n’ and have worked really hard on our formation activities. Ask me something which begins with ‘n’. We have also been making our own books which will become our reading books for next week, so look out for them in our homework folders. We have been playing lots of games to help us to read common words.
Our topic is Autumn. We went on our first Autumn walk and we will go out every week to observe the changes over time. There are lovely apples growing around our school which we picked and made into apple sauce. It was delicious! We have been exploring Autumn through our planning board play activities. We have been listening to stories in our book corner, painting pictures using Autumn colours, making collages using leaves, conkers, berries and acorns, building dens for animals to hibernate and pretending to make soup and warming foods in our home corner.
We are looking forward to our October break and Mrs McCann is looking forward to meeting all the mums and dads at parent’s night.
