Holy Cross Primary

Feast Day

Hi everyone.
This has been another busy week of learning for P2/1. One of our highlights this week has been going to Mass for the very first time as a class. Today is the Feast of the Triumph of the Cross and we all went over to Holy Cross Church for Mass at 10am. Mrs Paton was very proud of us as we all behaved beautifully! We all got an extra play as a special treat.
Literacy P1:
This weeks words are, the and I, ‘the’ is a tricky word to pronounce, but we are doing a great job at giving it a go!
We have learned the sound ‘s’ this week too, and now we know 3 sounds we are having a go at putting those letters together to make words; at, sat and as.
Literacy P2:
This weeks words are, now, new, out and one. We have been focussing this week on phonemes that end in ‘h’; sh,ch,wh,th and ph.
We have been trying really hard this week in all writing tasks to remember to use a capital letter at the beginning of a sentence and a full stop at the end.
Maths:
Our beyond number topic at the moment is 3d shape. P1 have enjoyed investigating the shapes, describing them, being creative and building with them.
P2 are beginning to use language to describe the shapes. For example, my shape has 6 flat faces, 8 corners and 8 edges. P2 also created a simple Carroll diagram to sort the shapes into ones that can roll and can’t roll.
Thanks for reading our blog.
