Hello and welcome to the blog for Primary 1. This is where you can be a fly on the wall to see what we get up to each week at school. You will be amazed at what we get through! We are all looking fantastic in our school uniforms and are settling in very well. We may have only been at school for 7 days but we already know lots of the routines. We are loving getting to know our buddies and they have been a great help!

In Literacy we have been enjoying wordless books and have been learning that pictures can tell fantastic stories. We have been drawing our own pictures to tell a story. We have also been clapping the syllables in our name and in lots of other words. We are already doing very well with this! We have been talking about rhyming words through books and nursery rhymes and have been playing rhyming games.

In Maths we have been enjoying counting songs, games and rhymes. We have been playing with numbers and have been talking about the number 0 and how important it is in our number system. We have been chatting about rules for counting a set of things and we know that the last number we say is magic because it tells us how many there are. We have been helping a little dog from a book we read. His name is Toby and he finds it hard to count.

We had our first gym lesson with Mrs Currie on Thursday. We had great fun and were brilliant listeners!

Primary 1 is fun because we love to play and we learn a lot in this way! Once everyone has returned the permission slips for photographs we will post pictures of us hard at work and play.

Check back next week to see what we have been up to. Bye for now!
