Room 2 – Class Blogg – October

MATHS

During October in Maths Room 2 have been having fun working on Pattern.

I am putting counters on the Gingerbread Man to make him the same as the other one. (Faye)

                           I liked following the bear pattern. (Catherine)

 

                                             I am pairing the socks that are the same. (Robyn)

P.2s have also been working on numbers and quantities to 20 whilst P.1s have continued working on forming their numbers.

 

 

I can put the numbers all the way up to 20. (Lewis)

 

 

I like fixing the numbers from 0 up to 20. (Logan)

 

 

Room 2 will now begin to work on addition.                                                       P.2s will consolidate addition up to 10 and then beyond and P.1s will continue on formation of numbers and early addition.

LITERACY

Room 2 have been working very hard on their initial sounds.  They do this in lots of different ways, shave foam, sand, finger painting, play-doh and glitter as well as using magnetic boards.

I am making words with letters and then I  write them. (Kyle)

Officer Bear is helping me to read. (Ella)

We use Officer Bear to point to our words when we are reading. (Luke)

 

Next term within Literacy P.1s will continue to work on their initial sounds and P.2s will consolidate previous learning of their initial sounds.  All children will be encouraged to use their knowledge of sound within their reading and writing.

HEALTH & WELLBEING

During Health Week Room 2 had the opportunity to take part in different activities.   They all loved the balance bikes and The Sumo Wrestling.

We were doing training on the balance bikes.  I liked over taking, it was awesome! (Tyler)

I was a Sumo Wrestler, I liked it.  (Lexi)

It was fun being a Sumo. (Fatima)

We made fruit patterns during Health Week and then we ate them. (Callum)

During Term 2 the Room 2 children will be learning all about water and this will be linked to their Health & Wellbeing.  The children will be learning the importance of drinking lots of water, washing their hands and brushing their teeth to keep healthy.
