Room 2 January Blogg

Happy New Year to our family and friends from everyone in Room 2.

We have all settled well into the new term with lots of new learning taking place.

LITERACY

In Literacy we have been working hard on our new sounds. We are working well with our partners on our magnetic boards and using the five finger approach when learning our sounds. Ask your child about this.

Next step for Room 2 in Literacy will be to continue to learn our initial sounds and for some we will be learning double phonemes. We will continue to work hard on the formation of our sounds and using our word mat when writing our stories.

HEALTH & WELLBEING

The children in Room 2 had great fun playing with each other out in the snow.

We are making the snow change colour.  We poured colourful water onto it. (Emily)

It was great fun, I loved it. (Madyson)

 

Next steps in Health & Wellbeing will be to further our skills in Gymnastics and Yoga.

MATHS

We have been learning the order of the days of the week and subtraction.  We are also using Sumdog to reinforce our Maths knowledge.  Please encourage you child to use Sumdog at home.

We are putting the days of the week in order.  The names of the days are on our hats! (Callum)

I like doing maths on sumdog. (Catherine)

 

Next steps for Maths in February will be to continue our learning in subtraction, ordering the months of the year and learning to tell the time on digital and analogue displays.

Room 2 December Blogg

Welcome to Room 2’s December Blogg.  We have been very busy learning whilst having lots of fun enjoying the festivities.

Health & Wellbeing

 

I liked finding different leaves. (Ella)

We had a lovely Forest School Adventure to Baron’s Haugh.  We all enjoyed swinging on the hammock and swing, climbing trees, making dens, making clay faces and paddling in the stream!

The swing and tree climbing were both my favourites. (Logan)

I loved making a clay face on the tree. (Callum)

We enjoyed a visit to Jack in the Beanstalk in Motherwell Civic.

I loved the panto and the snack we got at the break.(Fatima)

Thanks to the Parent Council from all of Room 2 for providing the snack for the children at the panto.

 

During the run up to Christmas we have been busy preparing for the Christmas Fayre and having fun at it.

The Rainbow Cafe is one of my favourites. (Madyson)The toasties were good! (Kyle)

Christmas lunch was as always delicious. It got a huge thumbs up from Room 2. Thank-you to the Catering Team.

We have been busy rehearsing for our Nativity Show – Hey Ewe and loved performing on stage for our families and friends.

Room 2 all set for Hey Ewe dress rehearsal.

And our final festive celebration was our party with Room 1 and 3.

 

Next step for Room 2 in Health and Wellbeing is during P.E we will be learning about Gymnastics.

Literacy

We have continued our hard work learning new phonemes and common words.  We are working hard on our reading and writing too.  We use our knowledge of phonemes to help us.

I use the five fingers to help me remember how to spell and write my words. (Tyler)

Next step in Literacy will be to continue with our hard work learning our phonemes and transferring all we know into our reading and writing. P1’s will be starting independent Taught Writing and P2’s will be extending their independent Taught Writing.

Maths

In preparation for the Christmas Fayre we had to make our Ruldoph and the Reindeer Bags.  We used our counting skills to make these. We sold them for £1 each bag and completely sold out! Room 2 made a profit of £64.80-Well Done Room 2, we raised 2nd highest amount in the whole school

We had to count 14 maltesers and put 1 red chocolate ball in, that was Ruldophs nose. (Jude) We worked together to make our Rudolph bags. (Luke)

We have been busy learning to tell the time. Logan and Tyler have chosen their favorite times.

 I like when school starts at 9 o’clock. ( Tyler)

My best time is 3 o’clock, we go home!( Lewis)

Next step in Maths will be to learn subtraction.

ROOM 2 – NOVEMBER BLOGG

Welcome to Room 2’s November Blog.  We have had lots of fun learning, we hope you all enjoy.

Health and Wellbeing

We have all been having fun linking our topic of Water with Y Dance.  We made small rivers and these eventually joined up to a large lake.

 

We  were in groups to make a river. (Fatima)  

 

We all joined hands together and became a huge lake. (Catherine)

 

 

 

 

 

We have been learning how to brush our teeth properly…of course using water!

We all have our own toothbrush with a special picture on it. (Callum)

We need to make sure we brush our teeth twice a day. (Lexi)

You have to make sure you brush the teeth at the back. (Jude)

 My teeth are sparkling. (Luke)

Next steps for learning in Health and Wellbeing will be to do further work on water.  We are also going on a woodland walk within Baron Haugh.  Room 2 will be involved in lots of Christmas activities, including attending the panto – Jack in the Beanstalk and not forgetting performing on stage in Hey Ewe.  We are also looking forward to making our Christmas Treats to sell in the Christmas Fayre.

Mathematics

In Room 2 we have been learning all about 3 D shape and addition.

 

I found a sphere, it is like a ball. (Martin)

I made a cube from 6 squares. (Ella)

                               

We had to find and colour 3 D shapes. (Emily)

 

Addition was fun showing our numbers with our fingers to make bunny ears. (Lewis)

 I like bunny ear adding, its awesome.(Tyler)

I am making an adding sum with the dominoe. It’s 4+1=5. (Martin)

Next steps in Maths for December in Room 2 will be to continue to further our learning in addition and begin work on time.

 

 

LITERACY

During November Room 2 have been working hard on learning new sounds and using these sounds in their reading and writing.

We use our magnetic boards to help learn our sound words. (Karla)

I am writing a in shaving foam.  I like the feeling on my hands. (Logan)

Writing in the foam is fun. (Kyle)

I am pointing Officer Bear at the words on the book. (Robyn)

Next steps for literacy in December will be to continue to work hard on learning our phonemes and transfer what we learn into our reading and writing.

Room 2 – Class Blogg – October

MATHS

During October in Maths Room 2 have been having fun working on Pattern.

I am putting counters on the Gingerbread Man to make him the same as the other one. (Faye)

                           I liked following the bear pattern. (Catherine)

 

                                             I am pairing the socks that are the same. (Robyn)

P.2s have also been working on numbers and quantities to 20 whilst P.1s have continued working on forming their numbers.

 

 

I can put the numbers all the way up to 20. (Lewis)

 

 

I like fixing the numbers from 0 up to 20. (Logan)

 

 

Room 2 will now begin to work on addition.                                                       P.2s will consolidate addition up to 10 and then beyond and P.1s will continue on formation of numbers and early addition.

LITERACY

Room 2 have been working very hard on their initial sounds.  They do this in lots of different ways, shave foam, sand, finger painting, play-doh and glitter as well as using magnetic boards.

I am making words with letters and then I  write them. (Kyle)

Officer Bear is helping me to read. (Ella)

We use Officer Bear to point to our words when we are reading. (Luke)

 

Next term within Literacy P.1s will continue to work on their initial sounds and P.2s will consolidate previous learning of their initial sounds.  All children will be encouraged to use their knowledge of sound within their reading and writing.

HEALTH & WELLBEING

During Health Week Room 2 had the opportunity to take part in different activities.   They all loved the balance bikes and The Sumo Wrestling.

We were doing training on the balance bikes.  I liked over taking, it was awesome! (Tyler)

I was a Sumo Wrestler, I liked it.  (Lexi)

It was fun being a Sumo. (Fatima)

We made fruit patterns during Health Week and then we ate them. (Callum)

During Term 2 the Room 2 children will be learning all about water and this will be linked to their Health & Wellbeing.  The children will be learning the importance of drinking lots of water, washing their hands and brushing their teeth to keep healthy.

Room 2 September Learning

 Health & Wellbeing

During P.E. Room 2 have been learning ball skills.

We are learning to keep the ball at our feet when we are moving. (Luke)

We are trying to balance on our ball. (Ella)

Maths

Along with learning their numbers Room 2 have been learning about 2 D Shape.

I’m looking for shapes on our shape hunt. (Tyler)

After our Shape Hunt we had a Shape Picnic.  It was great fun, we were all happy. (Madyson)

I made a castle with triangles, diamonds and squares.  (Emily)

Literacy

During Literacy Room 2 are having fun learning their sound words and common words.

I’m fishing for letters to make S words. (Lexi)

We’re digging for letters, it was good fun. (Martin)
