The Big Friendly Read – Summer Reading Challenge 2016
Organised by The Reading Agency (www.readingagency.org.uk) and the UK public library network since 1999, the Summer Reading Challenge is the UK’s biggest annual reading promotion for children aged 4 to 11. Last year, in North Lanarkshire 2000 children took part. The Summer Reading Challenge combines FREE access to books with fun, creative activities in the library during the summer holidays. People in the Past- visitors to our classroom
We had a lovely afternoon sharing our learning with our parents and grandparents. We told them what we had learned about life in the olden days ( grandparents childhood ) and they enjoyed playing games and even trying some old fashioned sweeties from our shop.
Colour me RAD
Mrs Gold and her daughter took part in the Colour me RAD event at Glasgow Green last weekend. This was to raise money for CLIC Sargent. A big thank you to all who sponsored Mrs Gold and she has asked that the sponsor money be now sent into school if you have not already done so.
Wow Walk of Fame
This week is the WoW Walk of Fame. All children throughout Scotland are recording how they travel to school. The schools with the most active journeys will be entered into a prize draw to win £100 Argos Vouchers (1st Prize), and £50 Argos Vouchers (2nd Prize). Auchinloch were mentioned as 9th in all of Scotland on Monday this week. Keep up the good effort!
K’Nex Final
Our two P5 girls came fourth in the K’Nex Challenge today. This means they can go forward to represent North Lankarkshire at Glasgow University.
