Beat the Street

Pupils in Primary 1/2/3 are excited to be taking part in the North Lanarkshire Council’s health initiative, Beat the Street.

Pupils have been given a green key fob and a map to help them find where the special logging stations are located. Tapping their key fob on the station will record their “mileage” which will add to the school’s total and help us be a more active community.

Find out more on Twitter #beatthestreet.

Times Tables Treasure Hunt

We went on a times table treasure hunt today. We have been working on our 2, 5, and 10 times tables and put our knowledge to the test today. After answering the sums we went hunting for the stations of the tables. Each station had a corresponding letter that we had to note down. The winner with all the correct answers and finished first was Mark. All of us enjoyed this task and helped each other out along the way.

Master chef!

Today, Primary 5/6/7a were in the kitchen again. The last few times we were cooking we made some of our favourite dishes, so today we had a go at making one of Mrs Black’s favourites – quesadillas!

None of us knew what was in store this morning when Mrs Black told us what we would be making, we had never heard of them before, but we were willing to help make them and try them. It’s good to try new things!

We chopped onion, peppers and chicken and fried them in a pan with a little oil and sprinkled some chilli powder over the ingredients. We made the whole school hungry with the smells coming from the staff room! We all tried the quesadillas and some of us liked them more than others, but we enjoyed the new skills we learned today.

Pupils in Mrs Bowden’s class enjoyed a fun Kodaly music lesson with Mrs Wilkinson today. Here they are playing a game called The Greedy Mouse, where the children have to keep the beat.

“Tatties”

P2/3L prepared sacks with stones and soil, then they added chitted potatoes and covered them with soil. The boys are all very excited to see their potato crop grow.
