Quel temps fait-il?

Primary 4/5 and Primary 5/6/7a have been learning how to ask and answer about the weather in French. We played lots of games to help us practise our new vocabulary. We are very good at describing the typical Scottish weather: il pleut!

Linking Health and Literacy

This week, we made spaghetti on toast and beans on toast. We made this quick snack using the microwave and the the toaster. Using the microwave was a new skill for us to learn and we practised our existing knowledge of using the toaster. We then wrote about our favourite meal, and the ingredients required to make it.

Caterpillar Crazy!

Primary 1/2/3 had their daily check-in with their caterpillars; we are all genuinely amazed by their growth in the past few days!

We have studied the Life-Cycle of a Butterfly and made the most fantastic pasta representations of the life cycle.  We are delighted with how they look.

This morning we also studied our caterpillars carefully and tried to draw a pencil sketch of our new friends. The children are delighted to see the magic tricks their caterpillars are doing: Making webs, hanging upside down to eat and changing colour daily.

Caterpillars Day 2

Pupils in Mrs Bowden’s class have been checking on their caterpillars this morning. They all have their own little home and food supply now and have been given a name.

It looks like they have been busy eating and growing overnight….the caterpillars and the children! 😉

3D Shape Hunt

Today we have been identifying 3d shapes. We discussed the difference between 2d and 3D shapes and some of us even knew that 2d shapes make up 3d shapes.

We used our knowledge to go on a shape hunt around the school. The most popular 3d shape we found was a cuboid and the least popular shPe we found was a triangular prism. We were surprised by how many we found and the different shaped items we found.

Guess Who?

baby clipart

The Health Committee are in their final week of running their Guess Who? Competition.

There are 13 babies and children to guess the identity of. Which of our staff was the cute baby in the white dress, or the well dressed young boy?!

The competition costs £1 to enter and is open to all pupils. Parents if you think you can identify our staff, you are also welcome to enter!

Members of the Health Committee will be selling entries in school this week and our closing date will be Friday 29th April. Please post your completed entry into the box in Mrs Black’s room before the end  of this date.

The entry with the most correct answers will win some fabulous summer toys. In the event of a draw the entries with the most correct answers will be put in a hat and a winner drawn.

The money raised from this event will go towards buying each Castlehill pupil a water bottle.
