Piet Mondrian

We have have been using the art style of Dutch artist Piet Mondrian in our lessons. This style consists of a white ground with a grid of vertical and horizontal lines drawn/painted, and coloured with 3 primary colours. We tried the style with different shapes too.

Magical Maths in P1/2/3

Today the children in P1/2/3 were very busy completing lots of  fun Active Maths tasks.

We played Time Bingo, with the children identifying O’clock and half past times.

The girls from the Squares maths group were making the 2 times table using Numicon. Don’t they look proud of their efforts?

Finally, we were finding out how long a minute really is! It seemed a very long time when the children had to count how many times they could jump  in a minute. They also had to count how many spins and star jumps they could do. Who knew Active Maths could be that ACTIVE?

Artists of the 1960’s.

As part of their IDL topic, pupils in P 1/2/3 have been studying  the work of Roy Lichtenstein who was a famous artist in the 1960’s Pop Art movement. He was famous for his comic strip style of work, which he coloured using a limited palette of colours. We are sure that his style will be familiar to you.

1960’s art and P2LCSC

We have made some of our own wallpaper designs using the 1960 artist Andy Warhol for stimulus. We painted the paper with yellow paint first. When it was dry we used stamps of the first letter of our name to print in red in a repeating pattern. Have a look at our results.

Social Use of Language Programme (SULP)

We have been working with Miss Reece on developing our social skills. In our SULP group today we were practising looking and listening when others are communicating. We played charades to encourage each other to look at a person when they are communicating with us.
