Emergency Evacuation
I’d like to quash rumours about an Emergency Evacuation we had yesterday. This evacuation was due to a faulty heat sensor in the canteen kitchen which with no heat (or smoke for that matter) set off the fire panel and therefore the emergency evacuation alarm. The local fire crew were in attendance as due to the fact it wasn’t a planned practice they have to attend to make sure there is no issue being masked that we cannot see. With no issues and no damage they promptly left the school. The company who service the system were then called to replace this faulty sensor. Written by Mr McGilp.

School Uniform
I would like to clarify and reaffirm a few points in relation to the school uniform before the session in ends which means that parents are fully aware of facts whilst buying items for the start of term over the summer. In relation to this please find enclosed the School Uniform Policy. School shoes We ask for pupils to wear school shoes and not trainers as there is then a perplexity for pupils to wear the same shoes for PE as they do period by period. For health and hygiene reasons it is not good practice for pupils to be running about, getting sweaty feet and then sitting in class with the same shoes on. If pupils are then outside and get soaked
School Captains & Vice Captains
It is with much pleasure that the school would like to announce that Jonathan Richardson & Chloe McKinstry have been elected by their peers and staff as the School Captains for the session 2015/16. To ably assist them in their duties the Vice Captains for 2015/16 are Alix Reid & Emily Davie. This year saw eight people put themselves up as candidates and the quality of each of them was superb. Having used the STV system of voting it is very clear that all eight individuals were very highly thought of by the electorate. Written by Mr McGilp.
Polar Academy
Tomorrow heralds the start of the Polar Expedition which will be undertaken by five of our pupils and five pupils from St Aidans High School. We wish them and the Polar Explorer in Residence Craig Mathieson as they begin their hike across the rugged landscape of Greenland. They arrive at Glasgow airport tomorrow morning where they will travel to Greenland via a short stop in Reykjavik. If you watch the STV news at 6pm tomorrow night you will be able to see a bit about them as they are being filmed by a crew. Written by Mr McGilp.
